Description: |
This "little oasis" is the ideal location to enjoy a relaxing, peaceful break in tranquil surroundings, not overlooked by neighbours, with the benefit of being only a short walk away from the village of Sayalonga, with its many facilities, including Tapas Bars, Restaurants, Swimming Pool, Internet, Museum, Bank, Chemist and Shops.
SAYALONGA is a typical whitewashed village situated 40 km east of Malaga and 10 km from the coast at Algarrobo Costa. It lies within the area of Axarquia in Andalucia, Costa del Sol.
A haven for Naturalists, the house has a beautiful garden, with many tropical plants and flowers, which attract numereous butterflies and species of birds. The Sierra Almijara National Park and Tejeda Mountains are only a 20 minute drive away, an unspoilt natural environment of forests, mountains and streams, wild plants, eagles and mountain goats.
There are also local walking routes around the village and surrounding countryside, information on these can be obtained from the Sayalonga Tourist Office.
You may hear the Goat Herd singing in traditional Andalucian, whilst his goats are grazing and drinking from the stream below, or see farmers and their mules, going about their day to day work. Life here hasnt really changed much at all!

Information on Sayalonga
Named by the Roman settlers, Sayalonga meaning "long dress" has a population of 1,200 and is still a very traditional agricultural village. A stroll around the narrow streets and white washed houses show the Moorish influence. The 16th century Santa Catalina church stands on the site of an old Mosque, close to the typical Andalucian square with its bars and restaurants, and beautiful flowering Jakaranda trees. Other places of interest include the round cemetery, believed to be the only one of its kind in Spain, and the Fuente del Cid, a fountain where legend says El Cid stopped to drink water. A visit to the Museum and also the Tourist Information Office is recommended. Taxis are available from Sayalonga Square and a regular bus service to the coast and Malaga.

Nerja: 30 mins drive from Sayalonga, Nerja is well worth a visit. Once a sleepy fishing village, the town now has a population of over 12,000, and although tourism has changed Nerja into a bustling resort, the old quarter of the town is still virtually unchanged, with narrow windy streets and white washed houses. Attractions include the Balcon de Europa, a magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff, overlooking the Mediterranean, the famous Paella restaurant on Burriana Beach, and the caves, consisting of prehistoric treasures and paintings over 20,000 years old.
Torrox: Torrox Costa has 9km of attractive beaches, with a promenade lined with a variety of restaurants and bars. There are also many shops, banks and supermarkets.
Shopping Malls: Velez Malaga has El Ingenio which consists of many shops including Mango, Zara, Dunnes, Eroski supermarket, and eating places on the upper level.
