Description: |
If you like peace and tranquility, magnificant sea and mountain views, you will fall in love with La Azohia. Appropriately, the name La Azohia itself means escape. La Azohia is situated between the town of Mazarron (10 minutes drive away) and the city of Cartegena (20 minutes drive). There are numerous pretty coves and harbours between La Azohia and Mazarron. The coastline has many kilometres of unspoilt sandy beaches that are safe for bathing and one can walk by the sea from La Azohia to Puerto de Mazarron.
We hope to provide you with a little escape at our new and tastefully furnished two bedroom apartment on the top floor of the El Pinar De San Gines Complex.
From this very tasteful development, built in the traditional Andalucian pueblo style, it is five minutes walk to the sea along a road lined with deliciously scented pines, and glimpses of well-established villas.
Turn left and walk along the promenade passing palm trees, bougainvillea, sandy stretches and rocky coves until 15/20minutes later you will find yourself in the little fishing village of LAzohia. Here life carries on as it always has and you can watch the fishermen bring in their daily catches of tuna. On the headland beyond is the old 16th century pirate look-out tower to add to the charm and is flood-lit at night.
However, a 15 minute walk is likely to become a longer stroll as you will be temped to sit and take in the views, or stop at one of the local tapas bars or check out the possibilities at one of the diving schools, which Azohia has become famous for. The pristine waters are a playground for fishermen and divers. Swimming and snorkelling are very popular here, especially as Azohia boasts an average of 300 sunny days a year. Even in the height of summer here the beaches are never crowded and in the middle of winter you can enjoy clear, sunny days and delightful temperatures. The area is also ideal for sailing, windsurfing, cycling, golf and at the nearby 4 star Hotel LAzohia non-residents can use their recently opened Spa. A lot of the activies do not run during the winter months but I have enjoyed cycling and many interesting walks during this time. The historic naval city of Cartagena is a 20 minute drive away. It has many interesting places of interest along with the larger shopping stores of El Corte Ingles and Caerfour. Puerto Mazarron is 5 km from La Azohia and has many restaurants, bars and larger supermarkets. There are numerous golf courses within each reach - Camposol (30 minutes); La Manga Club (less than one hour);

"We were very surprised how nice this property was. It help made our holiday complete. What the area has not got the property makes up for, especially the roof area, where you will enjoy some lovely evenings. The communal swimming pool proved to be very clean and was in a excellent position for children. The area is quiet and the beaches very pleasant. The town is very Spanish so be prepared to have to use your language skills, but everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Trips to Cartagena are worthwhile with very nice restaurants and lots to see and visit. Beware if you are driving get yourself an up-to-date map as the signage isnt the best. "We have just retuned from the Lalibella and have had a most enjoyable stay, although La Azohia was perhaps a little quieter than expected. The apartment was however so well equipped with loungers on the magnificent roof terrace, a shower and the fantastic barbeque which we took full advantage of!!!The views from the roof were to die for I must say. We were well taken care of by Clive and Pamela, the key holders, Clive met us at the airport and as we did not hire a car (a must really if you are confident to drive abroad which we are not)he took us to the main supermarket to do a big shop and fill the fridge with supplies! and with wine at 95 cents a bottle for reasonably decent stuff who could ask for more? The apartment was spotlessly clean and very spacious for the 3 of us. I would definately reccomend to friends and would like to take the opportunity to thank Clive and Pamela for their friendly manner and for making us feel very comfortable." "Lovely apartment in a beautifully situated complex. The views from the roof terrace in the evenings were very pretty. The apartment had everything we needed plus a few handy extras such as travel cot, highchair, BBQ, deck loungers, scuba mask & beach mats. La Azoiha is a very scenic fishing village with great beaches and it remains quite under-developed and not too touristy, which is just what we were looking for. Hopefully it will remain quiet and unspoilt. The coves and beaches of nearby Isla Plana and Porto Mazzaron were great alternatives to the La Azoiha beaches, with La Bahia beach just outside Porto Mazzaron on the way to Bolnuevo is lovely and sheltered and very child friendly."
