This apartment is immediately off of Calle Porvera, one of the main streets in the historical centre, making it conveniently placed to explore the area on foot. The apartment is very modern and luxurious offering a comfortable stay in Jerez. The modern kitchen has Siemens appliances and opens to a large lounge/dining area where the original 18th century stone arches and high ceilings can be enjoyed. The bedroom has fitted wardrobes and windows that open to the atrium in the centre of the building that, together with the air conditioning, ensures a pleasant night's sleep in the height of the summer.

There is a private roof terrace where you can take the sun or enjoy the evenings discussing the day and planning for the next as there really is so much to see and to do. The area is famous for its sherry bodega, its equestrian centre, its Flamenco art and dancing and its gothic and neoclassical architecture and Moorish history.

The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) is in the southernmost region of Andalucia, between Gibraltar and Cadiz. It is a region that has miles of clean, sandy beaches, protected national parks, miles of countryside and many traditional pueblo blancos (white villages). It is an area that has escaped the excesses of tourism and commercialism and instead has retained a traditional Spanish feel.

The region will appeal to everyone whether you want to explore the Moorish architecture to be found in Jerez, visit Tarifa to enjoy the water sports and its kite-surfing beaches, cycle the Via Verde, play golf or spend your days in the Parque de los Alcornocales. Jerez is connected by rail to Seville (1 hour) and Cadiz (20 minutes).

The Costa de la Luz is in the southernmost region of Andalucia and is a region that has miles of clean, sandy beaches, protected national parks, miles of countryside and many traditional pueblo blancos (while villages). It is an area that has escaped the excesses of tourism and commercialism and instead has retained a traditional Spanish feel.

Jerez de la Frontera enjoys all-year sunshine and during spring and autumn the temperatures reach into the low thirties and in July and August soar to about thirty-six degrees. Jerez is famous for many things, consequently attracting visitors for a variety of reasons. It is the home of flamenco and you can visit the flamenco quarters of Santiago and San Miguel where most of the famous singers and dancers were born and where today there are more than a dozen flamenco clubs. The Centro Andaluz de Flamenco is a museum that must be visited to fully appreciate the wealth of heritage. The Flamenco Festival in February and March is of global importance with two weeks of round the clock music and dance.

Jerez is world famous for its sherry production and a visit to one of the towns aristocratic sherry bodegas or cellars is essential. Tours operate during the week taking visitors to famous cellars that include Gonzalez Byass and Sanderman and the wine harvest in September will have a particular appeal for the wine connoisseurs.

Jerez is an ancient walled city and its narrow, winding cobbled streets and small squares were built before the 13th century. Its 11th century Moorish fortress has been restored and it has an abundance of unique churches and a cathedral to visit. It is a pleasure to wander along the wide, tree-lined streets stopping occasionally for tapas using local produce in the specialities.

There are several festivals and special events on the Jerez calendar. The Flamenco Festival is spread over two weeks in February and March and attracts visitors from all over the world. At Easter the city stop to enjoy Holy Week and is followed by the Formula 1 Motorcycle Grand Prix to which thousands of enthusiasts are attracted. The Feria de Caballo is held in May and the two weeks of twenty-four hour music and dancing celebrates the relationship between wine, music and horses. There are various festivals throughout the summer in Jerez and its surrounding towns and villages and in September there is the Wine Harvest Festival. To conclude the calendar is the Christmas celebrations with the traditional Three Kings parades on the 6th January.

Other places to see include the Royal Andalucian School of Equestrian Art with its regular shows that demonstrate the unique relationship between man and horse, the Clock Museum housing three hundred clocks from all over the world, one of the largest zoos in Spain and the natural parks and nature reserves. Visitors will truly all find something of interest and will be keen to return to immerse themselves further in Jerezs rich culture and explore its architectural heritage.
