Casita Portichuelo is part of a beautiful Andalusian style finca situated on an estate of about 1.25 acres and has fantastic views of Competa, one of the famous white villages of Axarquia, the surrounding mountains of the Sierra Almijara and the Mediterranean Sea in a distance. The casita is adjacent to the main building of the finca, but is completely independent and your full privacy is guaranteed.
Recently renovated, the casita (80m²) is amply and tastfully decorated and furnished. The air conditioned house comprises two bedrooms (one double and one with two single beds), a living room (with log fire), a dinner kitchen and a bathroom. A large southwest oriented sun terras (104m²) with sun beds, a private swimming pool (4 x 5m; 1,6m depth), a dining table and a barbecue provides cosiness, relaxation and total peace and quiet.
The casita is equiped with all necessary home appliances as well as satellite TV, DVD player and hifi system with radio/tuner and CD player. Additionally you are presented a bottle of cava upon arrival and all towels (beach, bath and kitchen) and bed linen are provided for your use. Competa and surroundings
Casita Portichuelo is located at walking distance of Competa. Competa is situated at 650m above sea level and is very popular for its wonderful climate. This old Moorish village in the Sierra Almijara is relatively free of tourism and still very Spanish in culture. The most important agricultural product is the grape; the wines of Competa are considered to be some of the best of the whole province. The village is surrounded by vineyards, grape, olive, almond, avocado and lemon trees and is built according to the old Moorish structure with white houses, the remarkable church of La Asuncion, little streets and alleys, water wells and irrigation channels.
The nearby National Park of almost 10.000 acres is also a perfect example of the beauty of this area. There are several typical restaurants and bars in Competa where the famous Competa wines, Sangria and a variety of tapas are served at democratic prices. The third weekend of July, from Thursday evening till late Sunday night, Competa celebrates the village saint San Sebastian with a large feria. On August 15th you can enjoy the famous wine festival El noche del vino, try free wines and tapas and party with the locals.
The Competa surroundings with their beautiful views are perfect for hikers, bicyclists and mountainbikers. Also, the peace and quiet that is all around is ideal for everybody that wishes to escape the stressful life of the North. A little bit further away you can visit the lively Nerja, the famous Nerja caves with mural paintings of over 20,000 years old and other prehistoric remains, Malaga with among others the Picasso Museum, Cordoba, Granada and the Alhambra palace, the beautiful gardens of Sevilla and from December till April there is skiing in the Sierra Nevada.
