Notes
Benalmadena Pueblo 1km, and old Andalucian village with lots of character, with narrow cobbled streets, squares with orange trees and fountains, an old church built up on top of a rocky outcrop lit up at night, Castillo Colmenar - a fairytale castle, restaurants, small shops etc. Benalmadena Port 10 mins drive. Fuengirola 15 mins drive. Mijas 15 mins drive.
Benalmadena Pueblo 1km away has shops, cafes, bars, restaurants etc, and approx. 2km in either direction from the Pueblo are large supermarkets. Fuengirola has open air markets, indoor shopping centres, hundreds of shops, fishing harbour, marina, zoo, every restaurant imaginable, long sandy beaches, play areas etc. Benalmadena Port has a huge marina with great architecture and islands, fishing trips, diving trips, glass bottom boat trips, sailing, Sea-Life centre, Parque Palomas with play areas, animals, and birds to feed etc. Mijas is an old mountain village with cobbled streets, a very old church and shrine, donkey drawn carts, bull-ring, gardens with amazing views along the coast, cafes, restaurants, gift shops etc. Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Torremolinos all have beach side paseos - promenades, which are level and run for miles / kms. You can walk from Benalmadena to the Malaga side of Torremolinos all alongside the beach, dotted with chiringuitos (beach restaurants) for refreshments any time. In Arroyo de la Miel is Tivoli World, which is an amusement park with rides, shows, etc for the whole family, and next to that is a Cable Car which goes to the top of the mountain and back. Close by is an ice rink, and huge heated pool etc. Puerto Banus is great for "jet-set" watching, or drooling over the expensive boats and cars. Marbella old town is definitely worth exploring, and is full of old white-washed houses, cobbled streets, hidden squares, great restaurants etc. The whole Andalucian coastline is full of sandy beaches and bays to try out and relax on, and a wonderful choice of restaurants and Chiringuitos to eat in, with the whole family - children are welcome everywhere! Selwo adventure park near Estepona makes a great day out too. There is just so much to see and do, if you pop into Tourist Information you can choose for yourself.
