Mojacar Playa boasts 6 miles of uncluttered sandy beaches, dotted with beach bars, shops, restaurants, mini golf and childrens play areas. Set back from the beach front are residential properties and a few hotels, but strict local laws have managed to protect the coast against becoming a high rise concrete jungle like the surrounding Costas.

There is a Water Park just a short drive away. Within half an hours drive there are five golf courses, including the Internationally famous Desert Springs Course. Diving, horse riding, cycle hire and quad bikes are available locally and a variety of other water activities operate during the season. The mountains backing the Playa provide great walking in the cooler months.

The Costa de Almeria is the warmest and sunniest region in the whole of Europe with over 320 days of sunshine a year. The area includes the Cabo de Gata National Park with its spectacular mountainous coastline, secluded beaches and fascinating bird life on its coastal lagoon.

Less than an hour away is the only desert in Europe, location for the well-known spaghetti westerns made famous by Clint Eastwood. The film sets are now major visitor attractions in the area.

The nearby hilltop Mojacar village is steeped in history and despite being a tourist attraction, still retains much of its Moorish origins.

Inland from Mojacar you will quickly find spanish countryside, unchanged for centuries, with many small towns and villages. Farmers can still be seen using donkeys in some areas and also goatherds with their goats. The town of Sorbas is well worth a visit for its pottery, and its famous hanging houses which overlook the ravine surrounding the old town.
