Holiday cottage for rent in Villaviciosa

We are located at only 3 kilometres outside the beautiful village of Villaviciosa, the apple cider capital of Spain. A trip into town will yield many dinning opportunities at the local cider houses, called sidrerías, where you are sure to enjoy the unique way in which the liquid is poured from the bottle into the glass (wait and see). The Village also boasts some extraordinary Spanish architecture. The stunning estuary, called la Ría de Villaviciosa (see picture), sits just outside of the city centre, and is a magnificent place for bird watching, kayaking, or a picture perfect place for watching the sunset. At the northern end of this natural wonder, about 6km from Villaviciosa, you will find the beaches of El Puntal and Rodiles (see picture).

River Cottage is attached to the owners converted barn. It sleeps 6 + baby, and has been renovated to a very comfortable standard to provide you with the most relaxing of holidays. It comprises of 3 bedrooms, 1 triple, 1 double, and 1 single, with the added benefit of a large upstairs covered balcony. Downstairs you will find a well furnished lounge with English Satellite Television, stereo and DVD player. The kitchen/ dinning room is fully equipped, with Aga style oven, hob, combination microwave, etc. The bathroom has a bath and shower overhead. There is a washing machine in the cottage. All linen and gas are included. There is a small charge for electric.

Highchair, travel cot and a top of the line Sherpani child backpack carrier are available free of charge for our younger guests.

The cottage is set in just under 2 acres of land. It has a stream meandering through the grounds, leading to a river at the bottom of the garden. BBQ, patio furniture and sun loungers can be found within the property for your use.

We are an ideal base for day trips to some of the most beautiful natural wonders in Asturias, and perhaps Spain. Must see sites include the Shrine of Covadonga, and the majestic Picos de Europa, with mountains peaking up to 2648 meters. You will find the “bufones de Villanueva de Pria”, and the “Gulpiyuri” beach (natural monument) unique destinations on the Asturian coastline. The nearby towns of Oviedo and Gijon offer additional activities such as fine dinning and tapas bars, cultural events, and top of the line Spanish football at “El Molinón”, home of the “Real Sporting de Gijón”. Nearby sleepy fishing villages include Lastres and Tazones, with exquisite seafood. For the younger audience, there is the Aquarium in Gijón, and the impressive Jurassic Museum. Additional excursions allows you to view authentic dinosaur footprints left behind millions of years ago and visible on our coastlines. There is ample literature in the cottage which lists unlimited activities opportunities.

Please, NO SMOKING inside the cottage. There is a portable ashtray that can be taken to the garden for your convenience.
