Villa Rio Verde is a wonderful retreat from today´s hectic world, set in a peaceful location with 2 acres of avocado, orange, lemon and mango trees. Ideal for the perfect holiday.
It´s wonderfully positioned being 20 mins from the palm fringed beaches and ‘hidden’ coves of Almuñécar, Salobreña and La Herradura.
Spain's premier ski resort, Sierra Nevada, is only 90 mins drive door to door, with skiing/snowboarding in the winter and excellent hiking the rest of the year.
Nearby is Marina Del Este with a variety of excellent waterside restaurants overlooking the pretty harbour.
The Costa Tropical remains Spain´s best kept secret, it is very popular with Spanish families and is delightfully unspoilt.
This is an excellent base for exploring the rugged Costa Tropical.
Granada and the World Heritage Alhambra Palace are 60 mins away and nearby are the pretty, whitewashed, Moorish villages of Otívar, Lentejí and Jete with their traditional bars and restaurants.
Wine Connoisseurs - Visit the local Bodega which produces some excellent wines, one of which is featured in Neil Becket's annual tome '1001 Wines You Must Try Before You Die'. They are also stocked by the "Best Restaurant in the World" - El Bulli in Barcelona.
The Alpujarras, made famous by Chris Stewart in Driving Over Lemons are 30 mins away.
It is a perfect location for rural pursuits, beach activities or for a relaxing, get away from it all break.

Whether an individually tailored, leisurely guided tour or a full-on extreme expedition. From beginner to expert, you'll certainly enjoy the landscape.
From the villa watch the spectacular sunsets over the mountains. There are stunning views from every window.
Straight out of the front gates there is a huge variety of hill & mountain walks, for those wanting more gentle slopes to those looking for more challenging or longer hikes.
You may well be lucky enough to see some of the diverse wildlife including deer, mountain goats, and birds such as the colourful bee-eaters, eagles, honey buzzards and kestrels. The scent of wild thyme and rosemary will accompany you.
River walking, and the waterfalls of Otívar, with cool, clear mountain water are a highlight.
The famous 5 million years old Nerja Caves are 40 minutes away, a must see is the centre column in the Sala del Cataclismo (Cataclysm Hall) which reaches a height of 32 metres.
For the more culturally minded there is the poet Lorca’s house/museum near Granada, and the Picasso gallery/museum in Málaga.
And for history lovers the area is steeped in Moorish influences, as well as some of the darker moments of the Spanish Civil War where until the 1950s men were still hiding in the surrounding mountains.
Nearby there is boat hire, golf, riding, tennis, parascending, water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, rock climbing, diving, mountain biking, archery, 4x4 trips, and a Kite Surfing School.
The villa has table tennis, pool volleyball, WiFi internet access, Sky free to view, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, books and games and age related children's toys.

For those cosy evenings we have a lovely wood burning stove.
We would like to thank all previous guests over the past 3 years who have been, without exception, delightful.
Below is just a small selection of the comments we have received:-
‘I just wanted to thank you both for your tremendous hospitality, fantastic house and lovely attention to detail. We all enjoyed the time we spent in Spain and exploring the area’
‘Love the house, love the area and even more important the kids love it’
'Highly recommended. We had a fantastic week in February. Lovely large villa with beautiful pool and great opportunities to find a corner with the sun and shelter, despite the fact that it can blow a little in the mountains in winter. However, we had fine weather, with temperatures around 20 degrees every day.
Very easy communication with the landlord. Everything was OK on arrival and there were no problems at departure.
The home had all the equipment including bedding, towels etc. The property has stunning views of mountains and the Mediterranean, 15-20 minute drive from Almunecar and only an hour from Granada and Sierra Nevada, where there was plenty of snow in February'. Claus Peter Hansen, Denmark
