Description: |
The accommodation, within a private villa, is situated in the hamlet of La Drova, close to the unique and ancient mountain village of Barx. It is located in the La Safor valley at an altitude of approximately 380 metres and is surrounded by lush green mountain slopes.
Still categorised as being within the "Orange Blossom Coast", it is ideally situated for visiting the lively commercial and tourist centre of Gandia. The town is just a short journey down the mountain and through the orange groves whilst the award winning "Blue Flag" beach is just a further 3kms away.
The region is renowned for its natural beauty and is rich in history. Inland, yet also within easy reach, are the historic towns of Xativa, Alcoi, Albaida and Ontinyente amongst many others. A little further away are the cities of Valencia and Alicante and of course, Benidorm, with its many tourist attractions including the "Terra Mitica" theme park.
Barx and La Drova are themselves steeped in history. Some of the excavations from the nearby "Parpallo" caves indicate the area was inhabited some 29,000 years ago.
There are restaurants within walking distance of the accommodation and another nine can be found in and around Barx itself, a two minute drive away. Barx is, like most villages in Spain, self sufficient in respect of food shopping. There are 2 Supermarkets, 2 Bakers, Pharmacy, 2 Butchers, a Tobacconist where you can buy your stamps, an electrical shop and a small weekly market. Barx and La Drova have many activities throughout the year including succesive week long fiestas in August.
Gandia beach has a fantastic promenade and miles of golden sand. It also has some fine shops, bars and terrific restaurants and hosts a large market every Saturday morning. Gandia also has a lovely Old Town area with traditional Spanish architecture.
La Drova is easily accessible from the main A7 motorway at junctions 60 and 61. The airports of Alicante (140kms) and Valencia (90kms) can be reached in approximately 1hr. 30mins. and 1hr. respectively.
