This is a glorious light filled townhouse with superb views overlooking the Mediterranean coast, conveniently located between the restaurants and bars of Fuengirola, and the traditional cafes and artisan shops of the charming white washed village of Mijas.
From the large south facing balcony and the comfortable living room you have breathtaking views down to the sea.
Elegant marble floors and full air conditioning keep you cool in summer, while in the winter months you can snuggle up to the log burner and take advantage of the central heating.
Both bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and there's an additional cloakroom off the hallway. From the master bedroom you can walk out onto the lower terrace in the morning and enjoy the sunshine and the views. A grassed area adds to the charm. The master bedroom also has a large walk-in dressing area with huge mirrors and wardrobes. The luxurious ensuite to the master bedroom is fully tiled in marble with a bath and shower over, and has a window with a view. The other bathroom has a walk in shower.
A safe is also provided for valuables.
My favourite time is early evening, just as the sun is setting and the lights are coming on along the coast.
A large utility area in a rear lower courtyard keeps all the washing and drying out of the way.
Both the upper balcony and lower terrace are fully furnished with table and chairs for al fresco meals. There are sun loungers for relaxing and enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine.
There is a beautifully maintained shared swimming pool, heated in the cooler months. We are part of a small gated community so security is never a problem.
There really is every facility available nearby. There are banks and shops in Fuengirola, with the famous department store El Corte Ingles on the way into town. Theres a great selection of food supermarkets plus a really good market. Fuengirola also has a fabulous selection of restaurants and traditional tapas bars.
The famous Valparaiso restaurant and cabaret is only just across the road. Its a fabulous and fun night out.
Just up the hill in Mijas life is quieter and more traditional. This historic whitewashed village has retained its charm. On holy days the statue of the Virgin Mary is still paraded through the streets.
You can visit the bull ring and browse round artisan and craft shops selling leather handbags and jackets, paintings, and ceramics. Or just order a coffee and watch the donkeys ferry their passengers up and down the cobbled streets.
My favourite tennis club is just down the road. The Lew Hoad Campo de Tenis was built 40 years ago by the great Aussie champion. It runs mix ins, tournaments and coaching for any standard of play and is a wonderful way to play some social tennis and meet people. It also has Padel and a new gym. For the less energetic theres a hairdressing salon or treat yourself to a massage.
Golfers can choose from over 50 different courses in the area, including the world famous courses at La Cala and Mijas Golf. It is called the Costa del Golf for a very good reason!
There are lots of beaches within easy reach. For children theres a super playground, a great Aquapark and very good Zoo.
Further afield there are so many places to explore- Marbella with its fabulous Old Town and Orange Square, the millionaire yachts in the marina at Puerto Banus, or Malaga with the Picasso museum, the newly discovered Roman Amphitheatre. Go shopping or sample a glass of Malaga wine in one of the tapas bars.
The windsurfing attractions of Terifa are only just over an hour away. this stretch of coastline is fabulously unspoilt and laid back.
In the winter head for the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada, or explore the fabulous Alhambra at Granada, a world heritage site.
Take a trip to Gibraltar, (80 mins). For a day out with a difference head for the souks and bazaars of exotic Tangiers in Morocco. (90 mins plus a short trip on the fast ferry)Although a car is useful, it is by no mean essential. (Although I can recommend a good value, reliable local car hire company)
The bus to either Mijas or Fuengirola stops just outside the community (and theres a bus every 30 minutes). From Fuengirola you can pick up the bus or air-conditioned coach to places of interest up and down the coast.
From Malaga airport (the station is a 10 minute walk from the terminus) you can take the train to Fuengirola and then pick the bus up to El Porton.
Malaga station offers connections to the fast AVE train system all over Spain

I live in England with my husband and our two (nearly grown up) sons. I started coming out to this area of Spain nearly 20 years ago to play tennis at Lew Hoad's Tennis Club just down the road. And I've been coming here ever since. Everyone is so friendly and we've made loads of great friends and had some fabulous holidays. So three years ago we decided to get a place of our own. Winter in the UK never seems so bad when you can look forward to a week in Mijas!

Mijas Townhouse - Great

We spent a wonderful 10 days in this well located townhouse only a 5 minute drive from the enchanting town of Mijas Peublo. The accomodation was excellent - clean, great ammenities, outstanding view, quiet pool, well equiped kitchen.etc. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and the local property manager was very helpful in answering any questions we had. The location had great access to the airport and Malaga city and was within an hours drive to historical sites at Rhonda and Antequera. There was occasional traffic noise from the balcony as tour buses made there way up to Mijas Peublo, but noise from the bedrooms was not an issue.
