Holiday mansion for rent in Saifores

The tiny village Saifores, surrounded by vineyards, is situated at in a more populated zone with nature reserves and uninhabited hills in it’s back. In this village, between Tarragona (30 km) and Barcelona (65 km), only 8 km from the sea, we rent out our impressive medieval house “Cal Cotillo” as a holidayhome with garden and private pool (sleeps 8). We fully restored it and now it´s a comfortable house that combines medieval charm and 21st century luxury.

The house 250m2 has 4 bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms and a third toilet, a kitchen-diner, a large living room, an entrance hall with an impressive gothic arch and stone stairs, a large garage and pantry. The whole house has high ceilings. Thanks to the thick walls the house is nice and cool in summer. There is a nice garden 250m2, a cosy patio next to the kitchen 30m2 and a sun terrace 100 m2 with a small well designed pool.

The house is one of 6 houses in the Calle Mayor, or Mainstreet, of a tiny village (Saifores) with less then 60 houses and 100 inhabitants. The people in Saifores are very friendly, welcoming and, being a small village, it´s very safe place for children playing on the street. Although it´s a small village, it certainly isn´t isolated. All amenities are within short distance of Saifores as the village lies in the centre of a populated valley. You´ll find several supermarkets within 3 km, a brand new hospital lies at 4 km, cinemas, daily fresh markets, shops, railwaystations to Barcelona.

The Penedes area is a perfect base for a visit to Catalonia, you would probably need at least several weeks to see it all. Barcelona with al it´s culture and attractions is only at 65 km or 50 minutes by easy trainride away. The delightful Roman city of Tarragona lies at 30 km. The Penedes itself is renowned for it´s wines and champain (´Cava´), so finding a winehouse (´Bodega´) to experience a winetasting won´t be any problem. The valley is about 10 km wide and quite populated, but on both sides are large nature reserves where you can walk or mountainbike. There are many beaches, all with the famous yellow sand that gave the coast its name (Costa Dorada = Golden Coast). More inland you´ll find historic cities like Montblanc or Prades and you´ll find some of the most beautiful examples of Gothic architecture in the convents of Poblet and Santes Creus. The Pyrenees are only at about 2 hours driving distance
