Santa Pola Penthouse

The area was lovely, we loved it. The same goes for the apartment. It was lovely and apart from the floors, pretty much clean and tidy on arrival. The TV didn't appear to work but that also didn't matter to us personally as we didn't intend to use it much if at all. The flat exceeded our expectations in terms of location and facilities and had stunning sea views. The owner sadly let down the whole experience for us. She was timely and friendly enough on arrival and we exchanged keys/deposit and arranged for the exchange on the final day at the same time. However come the final day, she didn't turn up. We waited an extra 30 minutes and I was trying and trying to call her but she did not answer her mobile. Finally, we simply had to leave for the airport as we were already running late for the plane(and were also dragging around a 4 year old). I took the keys with me with the intention of postings them recorded delivery and asking her to wire my money as I saw no other options at that point. As we were approaching the airport in the taxi, she called and got cross and frustrated that I had not left the keys in the apartment. There was no mention of my deposit. She said she had written the time down wrong (in spite of the fact that she was not there for the time she said either as we waited an extra 30 mins). In all, she had arrived 45 mins late which when you have a plane to catch isn't acceptable. This all culminated in her being forced reluctantly and angrily to come to the airport to collect her keys/return my deposit and it was all very tense and stressful. It was a thoroughly rubbish ending to a lovely holiday and for that very reason alone, I would not recommend this owner/apartment to anyone else. This is a real shame since we had already decided we would go back there and take friends etc. Such unreliablility and such a strange attitutude at the end of the holiday just left a very bad taste in my mouth (as I was the one dealing with her since I speak Spanish). All in all, lovely hol but I wouldn't trust the owner again if I'm brutally honest.

Susan, I just read your comment and the facts you give are just inaccurate at best, it appears there was a misunderstanding probably on both sides but you have seem to infer we intended to keep your deposit and that's the reason for the delay, THIS IS NOT TRUE AT ALL, we have been renting for 10 years and have many satisfied clients who return every year, the apartment is always in good condition and lives up to the expectations. Thanks anyway
