Casa Margo is a typical rural stone and tiled Catalan house, originally part of a farm, with part of it dating back hundreds of years. It has been restored lovingly, with arches and exposed beams fully retained,and with decoration and furnishings carried out to a high standard. The house is spacious, comfortable and cool in summer.
There is one en-suite twin bedroom, and two further bedrooms with a shared bathroom. Upstairs there is a large sitting room with excellent views. A satellite TV and DVD player are provided.
Downstairs there is well equipped kitchen, an elegant dining room and a further toilet. Also an additional sitting and entrance area. Outside there is a small, private patio with an olive tree.
The house is only one of about a dozen in a small attractive( mainly farming ) hamlet. Lanes stretch out in all directions, ideal for walking - on level ground - and cycling. Bicycles are provided.
Pelacalc is only 3 kms from lovely, safe, sandy beaches at St. Marti ( near the famous Greek / Roman ruins ), and 4kms from L'Escala, a busy seaside town with good shops and restaurants. There are also many good rural restaurants close by. The whole Emporda area of Catalonia is renowned for its fabulous countryside, dotted with small attractive villages. Gerona, Figueras, Cadaques, are fairly close with Barcelona a little further, but visitable in a day.
