As you can see from the pictures, Los Altos is situated in the most beautiful of areas. The house itself is very comfortable, with four bedrooms. One room has twin beds and the rest are all comfortable doubles - with wonderful relaxing mattresses! The decor is simple and clean.
There are three bathrooms - two with baths and showers - so no need to wait your turn in the morning!
The sitting room has large doors which open out onto a terrace, perfect for al fresco wining and dining! The dining room, living room and kitchen are all part of a tastefully done open plan design. This holiday home has been equipped with all the items necessary for you to just wind down and enjoy your time in Spain. There is even UK cable TV. All bedding and towels are provided, and there are also towels for the pool and the beach.
The pool is just lovely - two minutes walk down the street. There is a nice big pool, with sun loungers, and a handy small paddling pool for the younger children. There is also a kind of Spanish 'tennis' game court there as well.
Surrounding area.
We have stayed here many times, and over the years have come to know the area well.
La Herradura is a small seaside town, and has some really nice, friendly restaurants along the front. We especially like the Chiringuitos which are dotted along the beach. Try the massive paella on a Sunday at Joachim's at the far end of the beach. There are also a few small supermarkets along the front. Watch out though! the Spaniards take their siestas very seriously and most shops are shut from around 2-5/6pm!
There are many great little tucked away beaches on the way from La Herradura to Nerja.
Nerja is just 10 minutes drive away and this is where the beautiful Balcon de Europa can be found. There are many good supermarkets in Nerja - Supersol on the way into the town is perfect for people on holiday. On the outskirts there are the amazing Nerja Caves, and there are often concerts played there.
Almunecar is along the coast past La Herradura. This is a pretty town with lots of lanes to wander in and some very nice restaurants along the front. If the kids want some excitement and you need to wear them out, there is a water park at Almunecar - along the front. There is also another one, about 20 minutes drive away near the Ingenio shopping centre in Velez Malaga. This is also very close to the Baviera golf course.
Then, there is of course, the Alhambra Palace in Granada. Totally astounding! Best to book in advance, (there is a cypbercafe in La Herradura) or visit any BBVA bank and they can sell tickets. Granada also has some great skiing in the winter months.
Marina del Este is just past La Punte at the end of La Herradura. A very pretty marina, with a nice beach, some good diving and a lovley place to eat and stroll in the evenings.
Actually, there is so much to do here, that I can't list them all! Good guide books with have more info, but I just wanted to give you a taster of how lovely the area is.
