VillaRia is set in a very peaceful location in the foothills of the Pyrenees overlooking the great central plain of the Emporda region of Catalunya with views of the Mediterranean in one direction and the Pyrenees in the other. The garden forms part of an old olive grove and lots of the gnarled old trees provide shade and natural screening around the pool area.

The private circular swimming pool and the surrounding paved terrace are close to the house and on the same level, providing a great indoor/outdoor holiday environment for relaxing or entertaining.

The villa is equipped with every comfort for 6 people, with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and an open living/dining area. Extra beds can be provided on request to sleep up to 8.

House and pool terrace have views to the sea which is about 7km away - less than 10 minutes drive to the closest beach and many more nearby.

Immediately opposite the villa are new and well maintained tennis courts which are free for guests to use (racquets provided!)

A short walk (500 meters) through more olive groves takes you to the beautiful traditional Catalan village of Pau with a few local shops, bars and restaurants.

A more comprehensive selection of shops including large supermarkets, produce markets and a huge choice of bars, restaurants and clubs are just 10 minutes drive away in Roses.

A short drive takes you to the spectacular scenery to the North of the Bay of Roses, where wooded cliff walks lead to isolated coves (including the one where the world famous EL Bulli restaurant is situated), or to any part of the long sandy beach which curves around the bay from Roses to L'Escala. Historical towns and villages like Cadaques and Figueres, both linked with artist Salvador Dali, are scattered around. Also nearby are the protected nature reserves of the Aiguamolls wetlands and the Medes Islands. It is a great place for walking, cycling, birdwatching and horseriding. Watersports include kite surfing and scuba diving, and you can rent boats and jet skis with or without a license. Just 5 to 10 minutes from the villa you will find Aqua Brava water park, a go-kart track and the Empuriabrava sky diving centre. Perelada golf course is about 10 minutes by car, several others within 1 hour. In winter it is possible to ski within 2 hours driving. Located about 30 minutes from the French border.

GOLF
The nearest golf course is at Perelada (18 holes, par 71, 5990m) which is 10km or 10 minutes drive. Other major courses include: Torremirona, 20km or 20 mins; Playa de Pals, PGA Golf de Catalunya, Emporda, all within 1 hour.

SKI
Usually possible from December to March. Several resorts to choose from in Spain or France within about 2 hours drive, making it a reasonable day trip. Spain: La Molina, Masella, Nuria, Vallter 2000. France: Font Romeu, Pyrenees 2000, Les Angles. Andorra is about 4 hours drive.

Notes
Inside the house:
All rooms are on the same level, a few steps up from the front garden but there is level access from car parking area to the back door (one wide step up).
Entrance hall, dining area, lounge and kitchen are all open plan design with very large windows and glass doors to the South and West which flood the living area with light. An overhanging roof shades the rooms from the heat of the mid-summer sun.

Lounge: Semi-circular design for great views. 2 sets of glass double doors open onto the South-facing covered terrace which runs around the front of the house. Panoramic windows to South and West frame amazing views across the plain of Emporda to the Bay of Roses, and over nearby Pau village to the Pyrenees.
Air conditioning. Seating for 10. Open fireplace. 32" flat screen TV, DVD, satellite receiver with wide choice of channels mainly in Dutch and German, some in English and French (not main UK channels).
Free Wi-Fi internet access.

Hall and Dining area: Sliding doors to front terrace, sea views.
Air conditioning. Table and seats for 6.

Kitchen: Window overlooking pool. Halogen 4 burner hob. Oven. Large fridge. Separate freezer. Dishwasher. Microwave. Washing machine. Fully equipped with a full inventory of everything you need to make it a home from home.

Bedroom 1: 2 x 90cm beds, usually made as a large double bed but can be separated on request. Window to East. Blackout blinds and curtains. Air conditioning.
TV and satellite receiver. Wardrobe.

Bedroom 2: 160cm bed. Window overlooking back garden and hillside. Blackout blinds and curtains. Air conditioning. Hanging rail and storage.

Bedroom 3: 2 x 90 cm beds. Window overlooking back garden and hillside. Blackout blinds and curtains. Air conditioning. Hanging rail and storage.

Each bedroom has space for a cot which can be provided. Extra beds are available if you want to use the lounge, or the spacious hall / dining area as an extra sleeping area (but please note these rooms are open-plan). Baby cots and other baby equipment can be provided but must be pre-booked.

Bathroom 1: Double-ended bath with shower attachment. Separate shower. Twin basins. WC.

Bathroom 2: Bath and shower combined. WC. Basin.

Bathroom 3: Shower room by back door, handy for the pool. Large shower. WC. Basin.

Outside:
Next to the kitchen, a glass door leads directly onto the pool terrace. Circular pool, 6.5 meters diameter with shallow steps leading in. Constant depth of 1.35m approximately. A 200 square meter paved terrace surrounds the pool and the rest of the large flat garden is also on the same level. Many olive trees for shade. Plenty of space for games of football etc. Basketball hoop. Outdoor furniture. Gas barbecue.
Well-maintained tennis courts and outdoor fitness area are located opposite the villa and are free for guests to use. Racquets provided.

Notes
Changeover day is Saturday in July and August; negotiable out of high season.
Prices are per week in Euros based on maximum of 8 people, inclusive of gas, electricity and internet charges. Pay by bank transfer to an account in Spain or Holland. Or pay by credit card via Paypal. Payment in Pounds also possible. €500 deposit required per week when booking. Final balance and €500 security/breakage deposit due 8 weeks before arrival. Security deposit returned within 2 weeks of departure if property is left in an acceptable condition. Property cleaned prior to arrival. Final cleaning charge of €160 payable with final balance. Bed linen and towels provided. Please bring beach towels. Mid stay clean can be arranged at a small extra cost. Pets on negotiation with owners. A small extra charge will be made for pets.

We came to Roses from England and loved the area so much we decided to buy a villa here. We completely renovated our villa, Villa Mirador, and have been renting it out in the Summer since 2009. We now also rent villas in Roses and the surrounding villages on behalf of friends.
