Designed to be his own dream villa by the renowned Spanish architect Carlos Sanchez Martinez, this villa is truly unique.

It is located on the edge of El Pinar de Campoverde the most sought after of villages on the Costa Blanca, just across the road from the peacefully serene Rio Seco (Dry River) Nature Reserve.

The villa is ideally suited for the perfect family holiday, a romantic break, golfing or a sports trip.

On entering the villa grounds through the gate, the garden with its mature trees and palms provides the perfect backdrop to the setting of the villa. Behind the garden, screened by palms is the private swimming pool and sunbathing patio.

To enter the villa is via eight steps leading to the large covered breakfast/lunch terrace, then through the two panelled Castillian oak doors and into the magnificent central hallway. Designed to represent a covered courtyard theme, the hallway is furnished with oak furniture, and decorated with art reflecting Spanish and British themes, Flemish tapestry and Greek statues. The stairs to the upper floor curve around the wall and has a magnificent handmade wrought iron staircase hand rail leading to the upper balcony. From the central hallway doors lead to all the ground floor rooms;

The Lounge, furnished with three large settees, coffee table, wood burning stove and space!! On the walls are original paintings reflecting the local heritage of agriculture and fishing. And in the corner is the satellite TV, DVD player and radio.
Accessible from both the lounge and the hall is the Dining Room, furnished with a traditional English oak dining table with seating for six and with the extensions out ten people. Contemporary original artwork adorn the walls and the room is complemented with an oak corner cabinet and small side table.

From the opposite side of the hallway is the kitchen, with an exciting design of a traditional Spanish hacienda kitchen and yet surprisingly incorporating every modern convenience expected in the 21st century. At the top end of the kitchen is a very convenient breakfast/luncheon dining area. Leading from the kitchen is the utility room with fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, iron and board etc.

And finally, to the rear of the hallway is the ground floor twin bedroom with fitted oak panelled wardrobe next to the ground floor shower room with toilet and bidet. Alongside is the cove entrance with steps leading down to the garage.

A new addition for this year is the fitness and games room; a purpose built room has been converted adjacent to the underground garage and fitted out with games, health and fitness facilities.

In private and to music of your choice you can practice joga, pilates and general aerobics. On the exercise side there is a full range of equipment including, rowing machine, exercise bicycle, bench with weights, supplementary weights and equipment including a heart rate monitor.

For the games part of the room there is home table tennis, slide hockey, pool, football and a range of complimentary board games.

Taking the stairs to the first floor balcony leads to the ensuite master bedroom, with a luxurious brass bed and fitted oak wardrobes. The ensuite shower room has a walk in shower, toilet, bidet and fitted washstand with large mirror. Through the bedroom patio doors leads on to the private upper balcony with patio furniture, giving a great view of The Rio Seco Nature Reserve.

At the other end of the upstairs balcony is the twin bedroom with fitted oak wardrobes, the ensuite shower room also has a walk in shower, toilet, bidet. Through the patio doors leads to this bedrooms private balcony with patio furniture.

All the major rooms have very efficient air conditioning and heating units.

Throughout all the rooms have been furnished and decorated to the highest standards with individuality and attention to detail in mind.

The village of El Pinar de Campoverde is the most sought after of villages on the Costa Brava. It is located on the southernmost tip of the Costa Blanca only 15 minutes from Murcia airport and about an hour from Alicante, both with excellent motorway links. The village is well maintained and looked after and very friendly with a good mix of Spanish and north Europeans. The village name translates roughly into the place of green pine trees, it is on slightly higher ground than the surrounding countryside and is completely surrounded by olive, orange and lemon groves. And yet is only a 10 minute car journey from the coast and some of the finest beaches on the whole of the Costa Blanca.

The village is well provided for by businesses that cater for all needs, from supermarkets, banks, restaurants, bars, ladies hairdressers, doctors surgeries, chemist, gifts shops, newsagents and much more. There is a vibrant cafe culture which really comes alive during the daytime right through the siesta and into the evening. On a Sunday morning a small market is held in the village square where everyone gathers for a chat and coffee.

Other facilities include two public open air swimming pools, flood lit tennis courts and sports facilities and the fantastic Rio Seco Nature Reserve. This is an area of simply natural outstanding beauty protected by statute, to preserve the rare flora and fauna. It can be best described as a small version of the Grand Canyon, a dry river bed carved through high rock formations on both sides by an ancient fast flowing river and this amazing site is on our doorstep, literally just across the road.

Another absolutely unique feature of the village is The Shrine to the Vision to the Holy Mary. This is situated about 300 metres from the villa and every year a very important event in the life of the village is the festival celebrating the event of the vision of the Holy Mary to a young girl from Campoverde some 60 years ago. The festival held in June includes a procession and is naturally followed by an huge party and communal lunch.

Further afield on the road to Orihuela from Campoverde after about 5 or 6 miles, at the hair pin bends in the road, is one of the most spectacular views of the open countryside to be seen anywhere in Spain, we have been known to drive to it for no other reason but to look, enjoy and admire it and then come home again!

Just down the road about five miles away towards the coast is the medium sized town of Pilar de la Horadada. A deceptively sleepy looking town it boasts every facility imaginable, too many to list here; but with some nice little shaded squares hidden away where it is possible to while away some time after lunch just people watching. It also has one of the most impressive modern churches tucked away in a corner of a square which is well worth a visit.

Beyond the town just over a mile or so is one of the best beaches in the area with almost limitless free car parking and children`s play area. On the beach itself is a great cafe serving snacks, coffee, beers, water and the most delicious ice creams. Running alongside the beach is a wooden walkway, great for an evening stroll, avoiding the sand.

Further down the road is San Pedro del Pinatar with an absolutely fantastic traditional Spanish market, held on a Monday, a must, just to experience the hustle and bustle and then relax in the adjacent park with a coffee or a beer, listening to the free music provided by a really good South American band. San Pedro also boasts one of the best restaurants in the region and some would suggest the whole of Spain. The Casa del Reloj, expensive but not outrageously so, this is the venue to make for, for that very special occasion.

The famous Mar Menor (Minor Sea) is the largest inland salt water lagoon in Europe. Some two miles from San Pedro the whole area is just packed with quite remarkable features. At the northern end are the salt lagoons where salt is processed using evaporation. This feature is acknowledged as one of the major reasons giving the area its acknowledged accolade as one of the healthiest places in the world to live, as recently stated by a UN report. The salt flat lands provide the ideal habitat for a whole swathe of migratory birds, including flamencos, that live and nest there, it is quite a sight to watch flocks taking to the air en masse.
Between the salt flats and the Mar Menor is a paved walkway out into the sea, giving great views of the sea on both sides and the famous La Manga isthmus beyond. Past the paved part of the promenade it is possible to walk quite safely to the very end of the causeway to the Mediterranean Sea. This is a beautiful feature to simple enjoy as a walkway after a nice meal, or for the more energetic a cycle ride or jog.
The Mar Menor itself is a shallow water lagoon and enjoys a higher water temperature than the surrounding sea. It supports every kind of water sport, including sailing, windsurfing, diving and fishing to mention just a few; it is possible to swim all year round because of the warm water. Its real quirkiness is the black mud treatment, where people cover themselves from head to toe in the black mud for therapeutic health giving reasons!

Going further afield (25miles) is the city of Cartagena; the Romans recognising its strategic importance fortified the natural harbour and surrounding hills and Cartagena became an important part of the Roman Empire. Cartagena has changed and developed throughout the ages and continues to be a thriving city. It is now home to the Spanish Naval College and alongside is a very busy marina.
Take a walk through the old town and you will see some very impressive old buildings recently refurbished to reflect their historical importance and continued use today. Higher up from the port is the original open air Roman amphitheatre still used today. There are several museums displaying all aspects of Cartagena history and displayed on the sea front promenade is the original Peral submarine built in 1888.
Alongside the old town is a very modern city with all the facilities expected of the 21st century and on the motorway into the city is a very large out of town shopping complex.

About 35 miles away is the regional capital, Murcia. This is a very old city built on the river and retaining much of its Spanish old charm from the cathedral to the market and its Championship football team to the bullring. Again the city has a superb out of town shopping area with almost unlimited parking.

Further afield are the cities of :-
Elche, renowned as a World Heritage site and event with The Lady of Elche Bust and the associated festivals. The Spanish need very little encouragement to have a fiesta (party) and they are all very enjoyable.
Alicante, a very modern city with airport and a major marina port. Being a large city It also has one of the largest shopping areas on the coast.
Benidorm, renowned as a holiday destination for those who like the hustle and bustle of a lively night life. If this is your forte it has everything on offer from restaurants, bars, night clubs to world class entertainment venues.
There are so many interesting places to go and interesting things to do, far too many to list here, we keep a lot of tourist information in the villa.

Great Relaxing Holiday Destination for All

The Villa is as described and seems to be kept in great condition. The location is very handy for Mucrcia airport which we used and gives access to cheaper flights by EasyJet... A car is required, if you wish to get out and about, with some great restaurants in the nearby village which we used, plus we found the areas on the coast had a great family feel and a great beach with even more places to eat, some good bars and cafes. (When asked Austyn was happy to advise on the best car hire company to use and they met us at the airport) A short walk from the Villa is the main centre of the complex / village with a supermakert (which does awesome BBQ items as the Villa has a great little BBQ!!) a couple of places to eat and some takeaways (We used them all and found them to be great! Sunday was a great suprise with the local market turning up and there is a great Chicken Roasting van, pre-ordering is a must! All in all a great holiday and we will be returning

Thoroughly enjoyable stay!

Flew to Alicante which was a short car journey away. The villa was immaculate and everything in good working order. Close to local bars and restaurants and a brief car journey to the beach. Had a thoroughly pleasant stay and were able to do as much or as little as we liked, whether that was realxing at the villa or out exploring the local area. Highly recommend staying here!

Life at Villa marjorie

This villa was outstanding; clean and beautifully equipped. There is a lovely breeze up on the hill, and a super private pool to compensate for the blistering August sun! When away from home comfortable beds are paramount - fear not - they are! Handy for the airport, competetively priced supermarkets, superb golf courses and beaches. Just book it - you won't regret it!

August 2011

We are a family of six with four teenagers. The villa was spacious, the pool was great. The surrounding beaches were lovely, and if a bit more noise was required we only had to travel 20 minutes by car. A car is recommended. We used the local tennis club a lot. Al in all a fantastic place to visit.

A Brilliant Villa and stunning surrounding areas.

My family and I looked forward to our holiday at La Villa de Marjorie with a great deal of anticipation and excitement. This was the first time we had booked a villa holiday like this and we hoped it would live up to expectations. Any doubts we may have had were dismissed from our minds as soon as we saw the villa and met Steve the caretaker who showed us around and made us feel at home. The villa is fantastic, beautifully appointed, spacious and very, very comfortable. The location is quiet with a fantastic nature reserve just across the road, the village has every facility you could possibly want with some great restaurants and shops. The nearest beach is only 10 minutes away which is unbelievably good, we found more along the coast which were just as good. I can fully recommend this villa. Thank you for a Brilliant holiday.
