El Apartamento enjoys a rural location hidden just outside Puntalón village, 3kms east from Motril. CORTIJO NUEVO comprises 3 independent dwellings;the original Cortijo used by the resident British owner, Casa Pequeña a small garden cottage (property 688) and El Apartamento - fully self-contained & built above the original Cortijo.
Each home has its own character and private space, yet share well established sub-tropical gardens with various terraces, patios and swimming pool. In season pick avocados & citrus fruits, not forgetting useful herb patch by the BBQ.

The Self-catering accommodation (sleeps/equipped for 1- 4) is ideal for couples. Briefly comprises; outside dining terrace with BBQ - views to Motril, Mediterranean & mountains. Spiral staircase leads up to a large roof-top garden (40sqm). Sunbathe from dawn til dusk, then watch the sunsets/stargaze with a bottle of Rioja! Panoramic 360º views.
Spacious living room with double sofa-bed. Fully tiled bathroom, seperate double bedroom and modern kitchen area with all mod cons.

Good as ever

After staying at the Casita last year we tried El Apartamento this time and didn't regret it. Rooms are nice an bright in the winter time, the bed very comfortable and the flat just really well equipped, be it radio/hi-fi/television or books or in the kitchen. We did have a few problems wit the wi-fi, but Patrick, the owner, does what he's really good: seeking a solution, asking how we are faring, putting lights on so we find our way home late at night. That's just a very comforting thing. We hope very much to be able to come again.

A Hidden Gem

Cortijo Nuevo is an oasis! El Apartmento is reminiscent of a quaint English cottage with all the exotic touches that remind you that you are in the heart of the authentic Andalucian countryside. Mere minutes away is the town of Motril, as well as other seaside towns and beaches near the Mediterranean! Although the little farmhouse and gardens are surrounded by the white roofs of greenhouses that have taken over the landscape - they are not a distraction. Actually, on your way into the property you'll think "where the heck are we going", but you will be pleasantly surprised. Once you're in the gates of Cortijo - with its high walls - you are transported into a spa-like setting of luscious tropical gardens, terraces, a pool, and fountains. Even the dogs, Ben and Jerry, are a charming addition to the space and not a bother at all. Patrick - the host and owner - is a perfect gentleman and there to help with anything, but very inconspicuous unless called upon. This is a place for people who like a home-like space in an authentic Spanish space. It is not the "spic and span" of a high-end hotel and is not for people who prefer the antiseptic feel of a condo. But if you've come to Spain to "feel" like you're in Spain - then you'll love this heaven! The apartment is fully equipped - kitchen has everything - and even has some grocery supplies to make settling in easy if you haven't got to the store yet. Patrick runs this on an honour system - meaning if you use something up, please replace it (i.e. spices, oils, beer, etc...) - that includes the poolside fridge stocked with drinks. We appreciated this policy as we had so much available for cooking! This apartment had everything needed: a cooler, mats, and umbrellas for the beach; fans; towels and bedding; TV with movies; books; info of the area; a gorgeous rooftop private terrace for an evening wine to watch the sunset; and that stocked kitchen! It is very much like a home - with everything you might need! A gem! An oasis! Thank you Patrick, Ben and Jerry - we'll be back!
