The country house “El Villar” is found in the village of Iznájar, in the province of Córdoba, which has one of the biggest and most beautiful natural parks in Spain, and was originally border territory during the war between the Christians and the Moors. Iznájar offers tourists who are looking for peace and quiet some great cultural and gastronomic experiences.

Iznájar has its roots in the Iberian and Roman cultures. However, the greatest moment in the village’s history took place during the Muslim occupation, when the village joined Umar Ben Hafsún´s uprising in the 10th century AD. At the time, the inhabitants of the village were severely punished, and finally the village fell under the control of Abderraman III. Iznájar fell into Christian hands when the Muslim Kingdom surrendered to the Christian army.

This country house of traditional andalusian construction is on the outskirts of the village, overlooking Lake Iznájar. Surrounded by olive and holm oak trees, the visitor cannot help but enjoy the wonderful views of the area. On the lower floor, you will find a large living room with a fireplace, a bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom which is adapted for use by a disabled person. The upper floor has a bathroom and three bedrooms, each with a great view. The front of the house has a wide covered terrace, a private pool, a small bathroom and a barbecue. The country house is fully equipped with central heating, Wi-Fi, TV with DVD, and washing machine.

I am 32 years old and I was born in Jaén (Andalusia). I am a young and dynamic building engineer who loves outdoor sports including hiking and all activities related to nature. Currently I live in Granada, but due my work I have lived in many cities around Spain such as Tenerife, Las Palmas, Granada and Córdoba. I love the "Cortijo El Villar" and when I can, I escape from the city to enjoy this place in the company of my parents who live in another house on the property.

May 2012 Review

Excellent accommodation in an area ideal as a base for exploring Andalucia. Lovely views from the reasonably well equiped villa, nice combination of terraces which would be ideal in summer. Owner was helpful and friendly. We used this as a base for a cycling holiday. Good selection of routes starting from the villa. Overall an excellent villa in a central location with truly outstanding views.

Casa Rural

The house is adjacent to the house of the landlord but the terrace and swimmingpool are private with a beautiful view. The house is very clean and authentic. We had a very pleasant stay.

A house with a fantastic view

Our family stayed in Izanajar for a week. The country house was clean and nice. The swimmingpool area has the most fantastic view by the lake surrounded by olive trees. We can recommend bothe families as well as couples with no children to stay in the house.

A good place to visit the deeper of Andalucia

The house is in the countryside and is perfect for relaxing and charge batteries. The terrace of the house has a stunning views of the lake. My family enjoyed a great vacations in Andalucia that I will never forget. Claire
