Gilet is a typical spanish pueblo ( small village) with its sunny plaza having street markets twice weekly with freshly picked local fruits and vegetables, clothes etc, and also having small supermarkets bars/cafes, a post office, small train station and is on a bus route. We are in the country , in an area called ' the lungs of Valencia' for the pure air in the pine studded mountains, which are only a 5 min drive away, past a picturesque franciscan monastery( visitors allowed at weekends). There are lovely walks with stunning views, and also picnic areas with outdoor paella fireplaces to cook your own lunch. The beaches are never far from sight and there are many outdoor cafes, restaurants etc. Valencia, which is host to the prestigious Americas Cup ( training for which is already under way) and the new Formula 1 street circuit is 20 mins by car or train, and has a whole host of places of interest, which we are happy to help you find.
