Description: |
We bought the house from the builders in late 2005. It is detached and has its own fenced grounds. Adjacent is a lawned area with an adult and childrens swimming pool shared between a small number of properties. The area is a quiet residential one with lovely mountain views but only a 5 minute drive to the town, supermarkets and sea. On the ground floor there is a sitting/dining room with satellite TV and a DVD and video player. The separate kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, fridge-freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. A generous supply of crockery and cooking utensils is provided. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms, one twin and the other with a 4 foot bed. Both have fully fitted wardrobes. Between them is a shower room with toilet. On the upper floor is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a sun terrace of 38 sq. meters with superb views. On the lower ground floor there is a double bedroom and en-suite shower room. All the bedrooms are air conditioned. Also on the lower floor is a large leisure area/sitting room furnished with a 3 piece suite and a supply of books, games and puzzles, a monitor and supply of videos. Other items provided include an electic kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board, a Z-bed, sun loungers, barbecue and outside tables and chairs. The house is centrally heated in the winter months. Outside the garden has been newly landscaped and includes a patio and covered area which creates a shady place to sit.
Denia is a buzzy town in both summer and winter. It doesnt have banks of high rise hotels and most of the holidaymakers are Spaniards and other Europeans who own or rent houses in the area. The town is dominated by the ruins of the medieval castle which houses the local museum. There are two fine churches and attractive squares. The covered market is open all the year round, and there is also a huge outdoor market on Monday mornings where jewellery, pottery leather goods and clothes of all sorts are sold. There are many attractive shops in the town and dozens of good restaurants to suit all tastes.
Denia is situated on a headland half way between Alicante and Valencia and about 8 kms from the motorway that runs from the French border to the south of Spain. You approach the town through orange and lemon groves. Beyond the coastal plain is a range of mountains dominated by the 2,400 ft. high Mount Montgo.
In the immediate area there is a Safari Park with a dolphin show. There are two 18 hole golf courses within easy reach of the house, one on hilly terrain and one a links course. If you fancy the bright lights Benidorm and its attractions are about half an hours drive away. Very popular is Terra Mitica, a theme park which opened in 2000 and is apparently larger than Disneyland Paris. There is Terra Natura, a mixture of theme park and zoo and a large water park called Aqualandia.
Denia is a busy port and the ferries to Ibiza and Mallorca leave from there. To the south of the town the coastlilne is rugged, but to the north there are 12 kms of wide, sandy beaches broken only by a few stony areas. There is an extensivew yachting marina and many lovely walks and promenades.
