Description: |
Local tradesmen have refurbished the house to a very high standard and we have tried to include all of the items that are needed to make your stay enjoyable.
We are also very proud that The Granada Tourist Office has given the house its Official Approval as Tourist Accommodation :ref GR00416.
Casa de Tranquila is typical of the type of charming town houses found in Andalusian pueblos. The living accommodation has been newly furnished throughout and is situated over three floors with the fourth floor dedicated to a sun terrace with everything you need for dining alfresco while drinking in the stunning views of the olive tree covered hills
During your time in Algarinejo we are sure that you will be struck by the friendliness and welcoming nature of the local people and will receive regular greetings of “hola” and “buenos días” as you wander through the little streets or soak up the sun in the Plaza de Espana! . This feeling of being made so welcome by the local people is reflected through all of the comments made in the guest book along with the lovely compliments about the house itself.
Our representatives Helen and Murray will meet you on arrival where possible and will be only too happy to recommend places to visit and dine. Helen and Murray also live in Algarinejo and have a wealth of knowledge about the local and regional area. If you are arriving in the evening they will also be happy to purchase some basics on your behalf to see you through until you can get to the shops. Just let us know what you need and we will do the rest.
The Accommodation
The Lounge
This room has been newly furnished with two sofas one of which converts to a small double bed, TV, DVD Player and CD music system with radio and cassette player. A selection of DVD’s, CD’s and books are included for your use along with the all-important wine rack for the local Andalusian produce.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is also new and fully fitted with under cupboard lights, ceiling stotlights, granite worktops, an integral oven and halogen hob, with stainless steel extractor hood and has a breakfast bar and stools. We have provided a fridge freezer, microwave oven, electric toaster, cool bag with ice blocks, electric kettle and all of the cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware that you could need for your stay.
The Shower-room
The bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet and sink with large mirror above.
The Main Bedroom
This is a lovely bright room with two windows giving views over the olive tree covered hills. It has two single beds, bedside tables with lamps, three-drawer chest, mirror and wardrobe. All of the bed linen is provided along with electric blankets and feather duvets for the winter months and fans for the much longer summer months.
The Second Bedroom
This again is a lovely bright and airy room and is furnished for one person. It has a single bed, bedside table with lamp , wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Please note that access to the main bedroom, shower room and the sun terrace are made by entering this room. Calico curtain screens are povided for privacy.
The Sun Terrace
It is when stepping out onto this terrace that you will understand why we called the house Casa de Tranquila (house of calm). The views of the giant pin-cushions (our personal description of the olive tree covered hills) are truly spectacular from sunrise to sunset. From the terrace you can sit and watch the goats being herded through the pueblo to new pastures, the farmers working on the olives or just watch the hills change colour throughout the day. Because we fell in love with this part of the casa and knew others would too we have fitted a small outdoor kitchen with sink and granite worktops and all the items you will need for eating alfresco on those long warm tranquil evenings:
Patio furniture, fridge, gas barbeque(gas provided), cutlery, glassware and crockery.
Note: please try and drag yourself away from the terrace, as there is a lot more to see and do. I know it will be hard but please do try!
Algarinejo
Algarinejo is a typical Andalusian country pueblo situated on the edge of the sierra subbetica, on the western most point of the Province of Granada. Algarinejo has around 3,500 residents, two banks, large swimming pool with terrace bar and pizza café, several supermarkets, chemists, medical centre, markets, many bustling tapas bars, pizzeria and a fabulous restaurant with an international menu. Spain loves a good fiesta and Algarinejo is no exception one of which lasts 4 days! and if one is taking place during your visit make a point of taking part and you will be made very welcome.
The town is also ideally situated for many outdoor pursuits such as bird watching, fishing, cycling, walking and hiking. A 45-minute drive to Antequera will provide excellent facilities for golfers at all levels.
Algarinejo is also ideally situated being only 60 minutes from Granada International Airport, and one hour 20 minutes from Malaga Airport. It is also perfectly placed for visiting Cordoba and Seville, which are about one and a half hours drive. If you want to spend some time on the Costa del Sol relaxing on the beach at Torremolinos or dining on the harbour side in Benalmadena they are both a little over an hours drive away. However the stunning town of Iznajar with its beautiful lake and beach is only 20 minutes drive away and should be a must on your itinerary.
As already mentioned, you are ideally situated in Algarinejo for visiting not only the city of Granada and its spectacular Alhambra Palace(which really is a must) but also the provinces of Seville, Malaga and Cordoba. Each is diverse in its history, culture and scenery. You will be stunned at the changes in the views as you travel between them and each is equally worth visiting to make the most of your holiday. And to help you explore we have supplied a selection of literature and maps about the regions in the house.

There is a beautiful outdoor public swimming pool in the town with an additional pool for children which is open throughout the main summer months. It also offers refreshements from the pool-side bar and cafe which serves various hot/cold snacks and drinks. |

The £100 deposit for breakages and damage is refundable within 10 days of the end of the rental period once the property has been checked. The property will be cleaned prior to your arrival and on your departure. |
