Velez de Benaudalla is a beautiful moorish Andalucian village situated at the foothills of the Alpujarras. It takes 45 minutes drive from Granada airport and 1 hour 30 minutes/2 hours from Malaga/Almeria airports respectively. The beaches at Salobrena and Motril are 15/20 minutes drive.
The village is an ideal base for those wanting to explore the Lecrin Valley, Alpujarras and the historic town of Granada with the Alhambra Palace. It is also ideal for those wishing to play golf in Motril, watersports in Salobrena and skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Our house sits in an elevated position (same level as the Moorish Castle) in the village and has stunning, panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the village and the Castle. The house is spacious and the top floor is dedicated to a large roof terrace with a 6-seater jacuzzi and panoramic views.
The ground floor comprises large entrance hall, 3 double bedrooms (sleeps 6 + travel cot), en suite shower room and family bathroom.
The first floor comprises a cloakroom; glazed double doors lead to a light and airy lounge with open fire, DVD and satellite TV. An archway leads to a large well equipped family kitchen/dining room to include oven & hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and dining table/chairs for 6. Double doors lead to the kitchen terrace with BBQ and patio furniture.
The second floor is dedicated to the large and private roof terrace (not overlooked) with 6-seater Jacuzzi, BBQ, patio furniture & sunbeds, fridge and uninterrupted views. The jacuzzi temperature can be controlled by the guests so it can be heated for the winter or cool/refreshing for the summer.
All ground floor windows have fly screens and the traditional wrecker bars. The lounge and bedrooms have ceiling fans and electric heaters. The bathrooms have heated towel rails.

"The hot tub on the large roof terrace and surrounding views were panoramically breathtaking! You could see snow on the mountain peaks and houses were sparsely dotted around as if certain parts of the mountainside had been created just for them! A pair of binoculars is a must at this location. We spent a lot of time at the house. It is very tranquil, luxurious, yet still homely. Very well equipped (I challenge you not to find whatever you need here!) and attention to detail and cleanliness is very apparent. There is a choice of two terraces, both equipped with a barbecue and a fridge nearby!
The village is full of Spanish culture you feel that you have stepped back in time. Very laid back and slow paced, this really helps you to adopt a holiday pace for yourself. Although a relatively small village there is a choice of tapas bars, bakers, small but well stocked grocery shops, and a pharmacy.
We wholeheartedly recommend this holiday home, whether you chose to use it as a base to explore this beautiful area of Spain; or sit in the hot tub with the views; or as a retreat to hide away with a few good books and the odd bottle of wine – you will not be disappointed!" Carol, hubby & friends

"The house sits in a beautiful setting overlooking the village with uninterrupted views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and we spent most of the days sitting in the Jacuzzi on the roof terrace gazing at the view.
The house itself has everything you will need for your stay with a well equipped kitchen and the sitting room is large, bright and airy.
The bars in the village are very traditional and we were greeted with a friendly welcome by all the locals. The journey from the airport is very straightforward and we travelled to Salobrena on the coast 15 minutes away in the evenings to use the restaurants and walk on the beach in the cool air of the evening (if you can call 28 degrees cool). We can recommend this house if you want a relaxing holiday in a superb part of Spain in an equally superb setting." Ian and family.

Bed linen and towels are provided. Weekly cleaning/linen charge included in price. A welcome pack can be arranged for you if required. Guests are asked to provide their own beach towels.
The family bathroom and en suite shower room both have heated towel rails. All bedrooms are fitted with wall mounted heaters, ceiling fans and fly screens. There is a safe fitted into one bedroom for your valuables.
The lounge has an open fire, wall mounted heater and 2 ceiling fans, 3 x settees and is very spacious. There are a selection of books, games, DVDs and CDs for guest use.
The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, cutlery and crockery. The kitchen terrace has plenty of space for at least 6 people and terrace furniture. There is also a BBQ on this terrace.
Together with the 6-seater jacuzzi, sunbeds, patio furniture and BBQ, there is a fridge on the roof terrace - ideal for replenishing those cold drinks! There are excellent views from the roof terrace to the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Castle and the village. |
