This OLD SPANISH HAMLET has been lovingly restored and converted for comfortable living. Deep in the heart of the Andalusian countryside but at no distance from picturesque white villages,local shops, restaurants, unpretentious tapas bars - A TASTE of REAL SPAIN.
Relax on a sunlounger by the beautiful tiled pool; sit in the sun or the shade of the ancient carob trees, palms, bamboos and chill.
Cortijo "La Calera" consists of CASA ALGARROBO HOUSE; (sleeps 8+ a double futon and single fold down bed) and adjoining cottage; (Sleeps 2)
HOUSE: 3 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom. Cot also available .

A well equipped kitchen / diner and another mini kitchen/living area.
Pretty roof terrace, perfect for viewing the stunning sunsets.
Homely living rooms,plenty of space to spend time together or relax alone. Music, books and board games provided.
The large ground floor dining terrace and BBQ (seats 12 ) perfect to unwind with a glass of local wine, perhaps. (Has gates for the safety of young children)
CASITA GORRION COTTAGE; Ground floor: 1 double bedroom, bathroom, a spacious living / kitchen area with an open wood fire.
It has a private,partly covered terrace with BBQ, table,chairs and sofa.
The beautiful location affords awesome views of the mountains, unspoilt valleys and olive groves from the whole property, especially from the terraces and swimming pool area.
A spacious terrace of handmade tiles surrounds the HUGE LAGOON SHAPED POOL 15mx5m with underwater lighting and roman steps giving easy access to non - swimmers and children who are happy playing in the pool for hours.
Outside shower. W.C situated in the pool room. Poolside loungers, tables, chairs, cushions are provided in both sunny and shaded areas, one of which has an enchanting cave, floodlit at night.
The resident owners will respect your privacy but are on hand if you wish help or advice and share their local knowledge if required. They will shop for you if you want though Welcome packs are provided and the baker calls daily. We have excellent information folders, restaurant lists, walking routes and maps.
Original beams and charming features, well equipped kitchens, comfortable beds, attractive bathrooms, cosy sofas, mosquito netting on all the windows.
At quieter times of the year we offer the option of renting the cottage or house only at a reduced price. Please enquire.

General: The house is cleaned to a high standard before each arrival and the bathrooms and kitchens weekly during a longer stay. There is no daily maid service Fresh linen and towels are provide weekly. (except beach towels which can be hired) The main house has central heating; the cottage has an open fireplace. Welcome packs are provided. Our baker calls daily and fresh bread can be ordered.
There is an automatic washing machine, iron and ironing board for guests use situated in the pool house. All windows have mosquito netting. Fans/heaters,coolboxes, drying racks. Games,books and local info. Small 2 screen dvd player can be hired. Bring your laptop,we have a Wifi connection. Bicycles can be hired by prior request. We have a cot/stair gate and high chair for 1 baby free of charge.
GOLF
The 18 hole Baviera Golf course, competitively priced in the area,is only 30 minutes away.
FOOD/LEISURE
We provide a list of the many good local restaurants with Spanish, English and Indian food. Bars with live music. Lake Viņuela and the National Park are closeby. Quad bike rides. Bird watching and photography. Local fiestas- the taste of real Spain.
LOCATION/HISTORY
Peaceful and secluded, but at no distance from the Moorish villages of Comares, Cutar, picturesque Alcaucin and Viņuela, or the town of Velez Malaga with a wonderful old quarter, steeped in history.If you want a change of pace go to the beach or on a seagoing trip with tapas and wine and hopefully a swim with dolphins. Visit the Alhambra Palace.

Special notes
This is a weekly rate in euros. It includes gas, electric and all sheets and house linen. Wood is provided for the open fire to last about a week. (extra load 10 euros) A non - refundable deposit of 50% is requested (by bank transfer) to confirm the booking. Balance in euros on arrival. All breakages must be paid for. Change over day Sat. Arrivals after 5pm. Departures before 11am. Some flexibility of the times or days may be possible by prior arrangement. |
