Our holiday home is a beautiful villa nestling in the foothills above Lanjaron, an attractive village in the Alpujarras, famous for its mountain spring water. Situated 500 metres above sea level on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevadas - the Iberian Peninsulas highest mountain range - the property offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and there are wonderful aromas drifting by from the diverse flora and fauna in the valley.
The property is entered by an automatic remote controlled gate which leads to the front of the house where there are stairs leading both to the entrance of the house and out to the pool. The private swimming pool is 12 x 6 metres and surrounded by a large terrace with sun loungers, sun shades, a cushioned swing seat, table and chairs and an external shower, artistically designed with a brick arch. It is a lovely place to relax, sunbathe and enjoy the view.
The house itself has 2 floors. The ground floor consists of a spacious lounge with dining area and a cosy corner with sofa and fireplace. This leads to an open plan kitchen separated by a brick arch in the same style as the outdoor shower unit. There is also a double bedroom and bathroom. The lounge leads out to a covered terrace with table and chairs, a brick barbecue and a separate wood furnace, ideal for making bread. It is a delightful place for outdoor meals at any time of the day.
The upper floor has three bedrooms, two of which lead out to a large south facing terrace, split into two parts. one of these bedrooms also has an en-suite bathroom with
a relaxing spa bath.
The property comes with all mod cons. There is satellite TV in each bedroom and the lounge has CD and radio cassette player as well as a larger TV. The kitchen and outdoor areas are also very well equipped with everything needed for a perfect holiday.
Our holiday home is a 10 minute walk from Lanjaron where there are shops, bars and restaurants, banks and medical supplies. The coast and Granada are approximately 40 minutes drive. The house is accessed by a narrow and fairly steep asphalt track which winds through the old part of town and up to the main gate of the house. It may prove slightly problematic to guests accustomed to flat terrain.
