The surrounding area hosts fruit agriculture and has palm trees on every horizon. The property is spread out over 3000 m2 (orchard in the middle) and we have quiet Spanish neighbours to the left and right, and pine forest area otherwise. The best part about being here, after many years in a major city, is the "oh wow" realisation you get in the morning... : frenetic movement (palm tree leaves moving) : people chatter (only your private thoughts...) : so many people (er, there arent any...) : the traffic cacophony (I can hear birds twittering though...) Our place is geared for RnR: Rest and Relaxation The main feature of the property is our 12m*6m rim-edge pool with a swim-up pool bar with palapa shade and pool surrounds complete with smaller Cuban palapa shades. Add to this, the summer kitchen and the expansive barbeque area, then to the rear patio with the CrocPit, a circular construction that is a tanning studio and Audio Visual soundshell in summer, and a firepit in winter. During the year, pick-your-own produce from the orchard is expected: oranges, lemons, grapes, figs. Walnuts start falling off the tree in Nov/Dec. The local area is flat and ideal for cycling. Elche Elche is much famed for its expansive palm tree grove, Palmeral of Elche, the only Palm forest in Europe, consisting of over 10,000 palm trees. Elche boasts a number of museums, such as the MAHE archeological museum, Municipal Festa museum, and La Alucida, all of them housing a range of rare artifacts. Shopping centres in Elche: Aljub, and the recently opened Ciudad de Elche complex dedicated to El Corte Ingles and Hipercor...both within 10 minutes drive... also to note Elche is one of the leading producers of footwear in Europe (!) Santa Pola Santa Pola is the nearest town on the Mediterranean, a lively typical spanish seaside town with working fishing port (fresh fish stalls), marina, castle/fortress, museum and many restaurants serving local traditional dishes as well as local caught fish, and tapas bars. Beaches and Watersports 10 minutes to a variety of uncrowded Blue Flag beaches with shallow azure blue waters, ideal for paddling, swimming, snorkelling, watersports and fishing. The beaches stretch from Els Arenales in the north to Guardamar to the south. Santa Pola has windsurfing and kite-surfing schools, and day-trips to Tabarca Island for snorkelling and diving are available from Santa Pola marina.
