Although we are near to the airport, it is not on the flight path, and there is no aircraft noise. Situated in a quiet residential area. Its tranquill and peaceful location is an ideal relaxing place just to chill out. The area is quite cosmopolitan with an interesting mixture of nationalities - mainly Spanish, British & Scandinavian, yet a typical Spanish feel to it. Santa Pola our nearest town is 5 kms south of Gran Alacant, and Alicante is approxmately 12 kms north. Benidorm is a 40 minute drive on the motorway north from Alicante, with lots of attractions for families: Terri Mitica - theme park & entertainment Terri Natura - zoo, entertainment & water park Aqualandia - water park Mundamar - Sealife (sealion & dolphin shows etc) Medieval Castle - evening banquet Our apartment is on the ground floor of a two storey block and totally private from both apartments next door. It enjoys panoramic views from the sea to the mountains in the west all in a microclimate regarded by the World Health Organisation to be the second healthiest place in the world. Every evening there is some breathtaking sunsets over the mountains, and because the apartment is south facing the sun shines approximately 320 days of the year. Our lovely two bedroomed apartment is home from home and well equipped to cater for 4 people and to make your stay an enjoyable one. Although Gran Alacant is a peaceful area, because of its location you are able to enjoy some fantastic safe beaches and unlike Benidorm, they are not overcrowded. For the more energetic there is plenty of activities such as cycling, diving, fishing, golf, horse riding, hiking, mountaineering, paragliding, sailing, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, windsurfing and bowls. (Leaflets are available in our apartment). Within the area of Gran Alacant there is lots of amenities close-by such as: gift shops, various other shops, bread shops, banks, chemist, bars (both English & Spanish), cafes (English & Spanish), restaurants covering worldwide cuisine - Spanish, English, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Greek & Argentinan. There are also 5 large supermarkets and 3 small ones, all of which cater for most nationalities and are always well stocked. Three of the supermarkets are within walking distance of the apartment. OUR APARTMENT COMPRISES: Lounge/diner - This spacious lounge consists of two sofas one of which is a bed settee. For your pleasure there is full use of a music centre (CD, tapes & radio), TV/dvd player with a selection of dvds. Unfortunately, the police are closing down illegal transmission of UK tv packages. The company that we were with was the first to be closed down, and the rest are now under investigation. (Customers are quite welcome to bring their own dvds). An upright fan is also provided for the summer months with a gas heater for the winter months. The dining area consists of table and four chairs. Kitchen - The fully fitted kitchen (individual) comprises of fridge/freezer, electric cooker/hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, washing machine, iron & ironing board, and all kitchen utensils. There is also an ice box to take to the beach and a shopping bag trolley, to carry your bags from the shops nearby. Bedroom 1- One double bed with fully fitted wardrobe, with a chest of drawers inside and bedside cabinets. There is a ceiling fan for the summer months and a duvet and electric blanket for the winter months. All the linen is provided. Bedroom 2 This bedroom has two twin beds, with fully fitted wardrobe, with a chest of drawers inside and a bedside cabinet. A ceiling fan is fitted for the summer months, with duvets and blankets for the winter months. Again all the bedlinen is provided. Bathroom - Fully fitted bathroom with bath (shower over), basin, toilet, bedet and plug point for shaver. Towels (not beach) and hairdryer is provided. Outside area Our apartment has a lovely large garden, partially paved with a flower bed. It is totally private to sunbathe in, to relax and enjoy the sun all day on one of our four loungers. There is also a parasol to sit under, if you want some shade. Garden furniture is provided on the large patio which is an ideal place to sit and have all your meals. There is also a small BBQ for you to use. Pool - Altomar 2 boasts of having the use of 3 large communal pools, within a two minute walk of each other. One of the pools is directly behind our apartment and all 3 of them incorporate a small childrens pool. The whole pool area is tastefully landscaped, with 2 of them having views of either the sierra mountains or a sea view. There are lifeguards on patrol at each pool during the summer months. Beach - Only a 15 minute walk down a hill or a minutes drive with plenty of parking facilities to our nearest beach (Carrabassi). However, for the less energetic there are buses to take you down to the beach and also to bring you back up. NEW THIS YEAR IN GRAN ALACANT - There is a tourist train to take you down to the beach and commercial centre. It also covers both upper and lower Gran Alacant to take you to all the bars and restaurants. There is plenty of room for families especially if you have got buggies. The train will leave the tourist information centre every hour, and is going to run the whole year. There are miles of unspoilt sandy beaches as well as sand dunes. These are blue flagged, which are cleaned daily and very safe bathing. To take to the beach, in our apartment you have the use of two lillos, a surf board, bucket, spade and various other childrens beach toys. Touring the Costa Blanca could not be easier. Hiring a Car For as little as 14 Euros per day, either from the airport or locally when you arrive and are settled into the apartment. (Details are available on request). There are lots of lovely mountain drives to experience, to get a real flavour of the true Spain. Local Buses The local buses are very cheap and frequent in high season. Santa Pola is 15 minutes by bus (5 min by car), and Alicante is 30 minutes away by bus (20 min by car). Both of these buses pass by our nearest beach (Carrabassi). From Alicante you are then able to either catch the bus or tram/train to Benidorm. A bus also goes down south from the bus station to Torrevieja and Cartagena. Local Coach Company There is an English coach company who pick up in the Gran Alacant area most days. They do some lovely day and evening trips to various parts of the Costa Blanca. (Information is available in the apartment). Walking & Bird watching trips available during low season months - the Costa Blanca is an excellent area for all types of birds. We have got numerous large nature reserves with hides etc, and in the mountain areas there is different hawkes and eagles including the famous Bonellis Eagle. Booking Conditions Bookings are made to suit you, whatever the time or day of the week. To secure your booking, all that is required is a cheque for £100. This will be given back to you on the day of your departure after the apartment has been checked. Most properties request the full amount six weeks before your holiday, but we do not require any payment until the day that you arrive, which must be paid in cash (Euros). On the day of your departure, you dont have to vacate the apartment until 15 minutes before your check-in time. The rates quoted are to rent (per week) and NOT per person. Unlike most of the properties within Gran Alacant, my husband and I are able to give our own personal touch to all our customers, because we only live a few minutes from the apartment. This is why we have regular customers coming back to us year after year.

Special notes The prices above are based on the exchange rate of 1.25 euros to the pound. This is only a guide line as the exchange rate can vary from day to day. So you will need to check on the currency converter. We only work in euros for our rental prices, so the sterling amount can vary with the exchange rate. It includes: electricity, water, bedding, towels (not beach towels) and cleaning of the apartment on the day of your departure. It does not however include the cost for renewal of gas for the fire, during the winter months. The first cylinder is free, and thereafter a charge of 18 euros per cylinder. (This only applies for bookings for more than two weeks). Escape to the sun for the winter months. Discounts available depending on the length of your stay. (Extra discounts for OAPs for monthly lets). A nursery hire service is available for such items as: travel cots, high chairs & baby walkers. Our apartment only caters for four people and no more.
