The delightful coastal town of Xativa sits on the banks of the River Albaida, in the autonomous community of Valencia, the protagonist of Xativa is its magnificent medieval castle; it’s also famous for being the birthplace of the Spanish painter El Espanoleto. The town itself is very attractive with charming boulevards lined with lush plantation, boutique shops and some excellent bars and restaurants. There are also many cultural and historical attractions in the town. Outside of Xativa you can visit the Cova Negra (Black Cave), which dates back some 30,000 years.
