La Alpujarra de la Sierra is a municipality in the province of Granada, which sits at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The region is situated inland from the Costa Tropical, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The unique architecture found in the villages of La Alpujarra is typical of Berber-style architecture found in the Atlas Mountains and dates back to the Moorish occupation. The landscape of La Alpujarra de la Sierra is characterised by terraced farmlands, snowy mountains and blankets with coloured flowers.
