Nice garden and complete privacy

We were satisfied with our stay. The garden turned out to be much nicer than what the pictures lead us to believe--lush and well-planned, the section with the animals clean and nicely organized, a favourite spot for our 1.5-year. Full privacy in the yard thanks to the trees and tall walls. Rooms were spacious and on the second floor there is a lovely sitting area with mountain and sea views. A major improvement would be replacing the creaky floorboards on the second floor, as would be less squeaky beds, especially next to the baby cot. A/C is installed on the second floor only, and you need it up there in August. I doubt it can cool down the whole house. The draught through open windows was good enough to keep air fresh downstairs, but it also means some of your cooled air from upstairs escapes (no separation between the two floors). The villa is located between greenhouses, a short walk from the beach where you see the locals mostly; more waves than at the Almunecar beach that was recommended to us, but more sand and less shingle, so we preferred it.

Excellent Place

We spent 8 days in Villa La Torre in July. I must say the place is astonishingly well looked after. You could stay there even in winter. It is away from the noise and pollution, and very close to the sea. The kids so loved the place that we hardly left. We did not even bother going into town, only for the odd shopping trips. Motril is a nice little town with all you need for your stay and with proximity to most attractions; you would want to visit in Andalucía. Scenic drives around the villages high up or down in the Alpujarras, or Nerja Caves. The villa is so organised, with fresh vegetables to pick up yourself, and the baby tomatoes that we could not get enough of. The swimming pool is great but a little bit small for greater enjoyment. Internet is available but with tricky signal... but hey! Who goes on holiday to Spain and cares about internet. We found an information pack from Grandes Villas that provided us with every bit of information we needed and more. Carlos, the young man who greeted us was a very well spoken, fluent in English and very accommodating. The check out was even easier. The place is very secure, and at night, you do not hear a lot of noise unless there are fireworks. Our boys had great fun with the animals, and enjoyed the fresh eggs omelettes in the mornings. The football pitch also added a great deal of enjoyment. Even mom played football there...By the way it was the first time I see an avocados tree...and it was there in Villa La Torre. Sadly, the avocados were not ripe yet. May be next year, we should schedule properly. We look forward to going back there next summer for a longer period.
