When you first book this property you are a little unsure what to expect, the pictures really don't do this place justice. Hopefully this review will give you some confidence that this is the perfect place for you. Our group - 4 adults and 4 children (2 girls aged 6 and 2 boys aged 10) - arrived from Malaga airport after about a 40 minute drive, with the directions given, it's fairly easy to locate. When you arrive at the property you are greeted by Eryl, the property manager and she gives you a thorough tour, while also being aware you may have been travelling for some time and she doesn't want to take too much of your time. First of all, the outside area of the property is huge, to the side of the villa you have a long drive with plenty of parking, you can park in the car port to keep the car in the shade, there is also a marked out basketball area, which is great for some early evening competitions - if this is your thing. Plus there is a table-tennis table. Spanning the front of the property there is a well kept garden with boules (petanque) pitch, an area with an electronic dartboard, exercise machines, swing and also a couple hammocks. To the side of the property a gazebo, with a huge table that comfortably seats 8/10 people, which over looks the piano shaped swimming pool. The pool is salt water, fairly deep (over 6 feet) at one end sloped to a shallow end with steps. There is an outside kitchen area, with double hob, BBQ, plenty of cupboard space with plates, cups etc and a fridge freezer, oh and a washing machine. Plus plenty of shade and sunbeds. Plus an outside toilet, which can be handy when playing outside in the pool etc. There are a couple of cats that roam the garden, these don't come inside the villa, but the children loved them and after a couple of weeks were quite sad to leave them. The villa - the downstairs is a very decent open planned space, with a large dining area, large sofas and armchairs. Kitchen, with the usual amenities (including coffee machine, toaster etc). There is a downstairs toilet/ shower room. (towels provided). Upstairs - we took the option for the extra en-suite bedroom, which gave us 4 double bedrooms, which was fantastic, the en-suite is a huge space. The other 3 bedrooms are all doubles, which also have single beds underneath, which when opened out go to the same height as the double beds. The family room has a double bed at one end and single bed at the other - (plus another single bed under this as well!). All the bedrooms have air-conditioning (extra small cost per stay). There is also a family bathroom, with bath and shower. The whole villa is very clean and tidy inside and out, and really is a great place for relaxation, you have everything you would need for a wonderful stay. - if you don't want to venture out, you have everything you could possible want. The owners Antonita and Juan, visit the property once a week to clean the pool and water plants, those sort of things and are simply lovely people, Antonita had left some children's Spanish dresses (fit aged 6 girls quite comfortably) in the wardrobe which she encouraged the children to wear, she even came back the second week and did the girls hair and makeup. They are very proud of their property and with very good reason. Local area - The villa is situated on the outside of Carratraca, you can walk to the local venta's in about 15 minutes, although it is quite a steep walk, but it is quite pleasant early evening, when it's not as hot. You may also encounter the local goat herder with all his goats, which is fun watching the dogs keep them in order! Carratraca has a few bars, a small grocery store, bank, pharmacy and a spa. You will need to travel a bit of distance if you want to find a large supermarket. Ardales village is about a 10 minute drive, this has some more bars, restaurants a midsize supermarket, that sort of thing. The lakes are about a 20 minute drive and definitely worth visiting, go to Zone 3, where there is parking (for a small fee, about a couple of euros) and a small kiosk for ice creams and drinks. You can also hire pedalos with slides for about 15 euros an hour, which is great fun - take plenty of sunscreen as it can get very hot! There are a few restaurants and bars around the lake - you will need to drive around to get to them. The beaches/ water park are from about 45 minute drive. We drove to Gibraltar one day and were in Casemates Square within 2 hours door to door. Overall, this property exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return again, although I can see probably why people don't write detailed reviews as it would become booked out quickly! I'm sure I've missed bits out, but really you will love this place once you arrive and won't want to leave. We were a little concerned with no specific rental agreement after we'd paid the deposit - we paid the balance when we turned up, which was a little worrying beforehand, however if you do have any concerns, give Eryl a call and she will set you at ease. Eryl is at hand while you are there, if you do have any issues or questions and will happily give you advice on places to visit in the local area. Enjoy your stay!

We stayed here for a week with our 2 very young children. We were very lucky with the weather because it was the end of October and were still in the swimming pool most days! (Although it was a little chilly for the wimps amongst us!). Even if the weather had been poor, we would have had just as fantastic a stay, however. The house is beautiful - the phrase 'home away from home' couldn't be more accurate! And the gardens are fantastic, with table tennis, boules, mini golf, basketball and swimming! We would have been happy to not leave the house for the whole week, although the couple of trips out we had to the local village, ardales lakes and coast, broke the week up perfectly. The location is fantastic for a young family who want to get away from the stresses of normal life and just enjoy each other. We will definitely be returning!

My family and I have just come back from a wonderful holiday at Finca El Albero. The villa is very luxurious and tastefully decorated. We spent a lot of time around the pool and enjoyed using the bbq and outside kitchen. The children loved the mini-golf and we had family table-tennis and darts competitions! The owners, Antonita and Juan were delightful and even made us a paella, and Antonita lent our daughter a Spanish dress for the occasion which she loved! The views are truly magnificent and we really enjoyed the location. We walked to the village a number of times and our favourite restaurant ownver gave us a free taxi service home which was much appreciated. We all also enjoyed visiting the lakes had had a great day out on a pedalo and then a meal at an excellent restaurant, El Mirador. It was only 45 minutes from the airport and the directions Eryl sent were excellent and easy to follow. We did visit the beach one day, but were all pleased to get back to the peace and quiet of the villa at the end of the day. We are already looking forward to our next stay and would thoroughly recommend this villa for anyone who wants to see the authentic Spain and enjoy a relaxing time in a beautiful villa, in a pretty Spanish villa. Many thanks to Eryl and Roland who organized our holiday, and Juan and Antonita for their wonderful hospitality. Se you again next year!

The villa was beautiful and lived up to the description and pictures. Antonio and Juan were friendly and welcoming and were helpful and addressed concerns. Eryl equally dealt with concerns promptly and efficently. We loved the out door cats too, they provided a lot of entertainment. Juan and Antonio's house is beautifully decorated throughout and we loved the personal touches, this made it both homely and luxurious. The salt water pool was brilliantly refreshing and really lovely to cool off in without chlorine. The boys (adult and children) loved the boules and golf. Thank you for your hospitality
