Notes

Campoverde - The villa is situated in the heart of the old village of Campoverde, only 4 minutes’ walk from the local amenities which include a patisserie, restaurants serving a variety of cuisines, pharmacy, newsagent, hairdresser, and the village square, which is the venue for numerous fiestas which take place, as well as the Sunday morning street market. A larger supermarket and bank can be found within a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the villa. There is a further plaza with more restaurants and shops in the newer part of the village, about 15 minutes’ walk away.

The Polideportivo offers a municipal swimming pool and tennis courts if you are feeling energetic. The popular Meson Rio Seco restaurant is also located here, some 20 minutes’ walk or 5 minutes’ drive from the villa. From here you can take a walk along the river bed of the Rio Seco Natural Park and view the spectacular gorge carved by the waters.

Out and about - The sandy, Blue Flag beaches of the Mediterranean are within a 10-15 minute drive of the villa, with beach bars and water slides in the summer. The gentle waters of the Mar Menor, the largest salt water lagoon in Europe, is a further 5 minutes’ drive. Take a dip into the warm mud baths here, which are said to be therapeutic for all types of skin condition, allow to dry in the sun and wash off.
The nearest town is Pilar de la Horadada, some 5 kilometres away from the villa. The town has numerous shops and restaurants to suit every taste.

If you want to indulge in some retail therapy, the new shopping centre at La Zenia Boulevard (15 minutes by car) is the largest mall in the province of Alicante. It has more than 150 shops, numerous bars and restaurants, and free parking.

If you are interested in culture, there's plenty to see and do within a 40 minute drive of the villa. The city of Cartagena became great during Roman times when Hannibal set off from it with his elephants on his journey to Rome. There are many museums, archaeological sites, and a historic naval base. Visit the port, which is the third deepest in the world. The city of Murcia, which was founded by the Arabs during the 1st century, is a similar distance from the villa. The impressive Basilica is in the heart of the city, and from here you can explore the museums, art galleries and beautiful historic buildings.

Golf - The area is renowned for its numerous golf courses, the nearest being Lo Romero, just a few minutes’ drive away. There are a further 20 courses within a 30 minute drive of the villa.

Travel - The villa is within easy travelling distance of Alicante Airport (55 minutes) and the new airport at Corvera (45 minutes), and is easily accessible from the motorway. Car hire is recommended, but we can arrange an airport transfer (payable locally).

Climate - Pinar de Campoverde enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, very hot in summer and protected by the surrounding mountains against the cold north winds in winter. The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees. In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world – neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it boasts 325 sunny days each year. Together with the heated pool at the villa this makes it an ideal all year round destination.
