Description (written by the owner)

A wonderful, beautifully appointed, corner house directly overlooking the sea set in the exclusive comunidad of El Enclave. It is both romantic and private - everyone's favorite.

The exclusive communidad of el Enclave is positioned on rocks just above the sea. It has its own private jetty where you can fish, swim and explore the nearby marine park. El Nido has a private terrace with 180 degree views of Herradura Bay, giving it a real "wow" factor. It is both private and romantic but is close enough to the beach to make visits to the beach and restaurants an easy 10 minutes walk. The house is furnished to a high standard and is home to the owner for 6 months of the year. This ensures there is all you need for a comfortable and hassle free stay. The house is watched over by Inma, the concierge, who is on site to help with any problems. The nearby village of La Herradura manages to keep its spanish character and still maintaiins a daily market. El Nido is special as the many repeat visitors and early bookings testify. It is also popular for honeymoon and anniversary stays.

La Herradura is only an hour away from Granada and Malaga City and there are several shorter trips to the Alpujarras and inland villages for a view of real Spain. All the well known tourist centres of Andalucia such as Ronda, Sevilla, Cordoba and Marbella are within a 3 hour drive making it a good centre for sigtseeing. Granada Province and La Herradura itself are well known for their tapas and generally speaking offer good value compared to its neighbours to the west.

La Herradura has a comprehensive water sports centre on the beach which offers tuition and hires out boats and surf boards. Underwater diving is good especially under the protection of its Marine Park close by to el Nido and hand gliding is popular from the cliffs above the bay at Marina del Este. Horseriding and golf are also available close by at very reasonable prices.

I have always loved the area from the timeI I bought a property in Nerja over 30 years ago and jumped at the chance of a property on el Enclave. I have never regretted the move as I have one of the best views along the coast. It is eay to take it for granted but I have enough feedback to know it is special. Sharing it with others gives me great pleasure.

Notes

The house is more than big enough for 4 people but generally I prefer to keep the numbers to 2 or 3 visitors to ensure the house is well kept . The house and communidad have a spanish feel but the original german owners made sure that the decor was to a high standard and I have ensured that this continues with regular improvements. All the rooms have wonderful views of the sea and the terrace with its barbecue is a favourite for chilling out.

Overall the communidad is well maintained with a gardener and concierge to ensure everything is up to scratch. There is off street parking outside the house with a separate gated entrance for better security.

Beautiful holiday home

Our second visit to this lovely house and hope to return again. El Nido is a lovely house in a stunning setting. The terrace is large with amazing views. It is well furnished and we spend a great deal of our holiday here on the terrace.

Third visit to Eden

El Nido, a wonderful house on three levels, gives you charming views of the Mediterranean from all its windows and mainly from the huge terrace where you can sunbathe, have breakfast, lunch or dinner, admire the scenery (throw in some wild goats just for the fun of it) and wish the whole house were yours. Nothing new in that. It takes most if not all those who book El Nido just a few minutes to feel they belong to the house and the house belongs to them. Everything is welcoming, clean and in excellent English taste. You feel from the first second El Nido has a soul and a life of its own. You simply cannot find fault with it, no matter how picky you are. Sadly, we could only book El Nido for the last week in September 2017 (we usually book for two weeks), but we promise to get back two years from now. As expected, everything was perfect: the weather, the roads - both the old one by the sea and the motorway - if you go the beach in Nerja, and the large variety of restaurants, some of which look better now than they did two or four years ago. You need a car, obviously, if you don't plan to stay indoors around the clock. Once you rent it, don't miss Granada, Cordoba, Seville (a bit far but worth every minute) and the white villages such as Salobrena, Almunecar and Frigiliana. El Enclave, the small community where El Nido belongs, has some 30 houses and is elegant, peaceful and silent. Nothing ever happens there. There are days when you can meet more goats than humans in the alley. If you don't, they're probably taking a sip from the community pool guarded by two cypresses. This was our third stay at El Nido and we're already looking forward to booking a fourth one. Thank you very much, Jill, and we're glad your plants grew so big and beautiful since we last saw them. Lots of love and kind thoughts, Irina and Radu

Paradise

El Nido is in a private community which when we were there was very quiet, as it is a gated community there is no traffic noise, very peaceful. The Villa is Jill's home and it shows, this is not the same as I have experienced with other rental properties as you have virtually a home from home type of property. The Villa is an 8 minute walk down hill to the nearest restaurant and it is the walk back that works off any excess and prepares you for bed. The Villa was spotless on arrival, with towels etc. We did use all of the facilities, cooker, barbecue, washing machine etc. For food we didn't have a bad meal in 2 weeks eating out. Eating in we used the indoor market and the vendors can understand or speak English, if you want whole fresh fish just ask to have it clean, sorted. We were there for the last 2 weeks of June 2017, wall to wall sunshine and the terrace gives lots of sun, shade and privacy. We have found a small oasis and it suited us that much that we have booked immediately on our return to the uk for next year. Jill has lots of repeat business and we have just joined that club. I have tried to avoid repeating the views of others.

Our perfect holiday home

We have just returned from our fourth visit to El Nido in 4 years and have already booked a week for 2018, so I guess that indicates how highly my husband and I rate it, we have found the perfect holiday home for us. The house is situated in a small, quiet gated community and there is parking right outside the house. The house has been built on a hill so the property is actually on three levels. On the top floor is a cool, spacious room which is perfect for reading. Go down a dozen steps and you’re into the lounge/diner with the separate kitchen off it. The terrace is also on this level. Go down a few more steps and you’ll reach the bedrooms and the bathroom. All of the rooms, except the bathroom, share the wonderful frontline view of the sea. Jill the owner lives in the house in the winter and consequently the furniture and decor is of a much higher standard than I’d expect of a typical holiday rental. The pictures don’t quite do the property justice, it’s more spacious than they indicate, especially the living/dining room. The living room also remains cool when it gets too hot outside. The internet connection is fast and also able to support internet TV (which has a comprehensive, ever changing library of box sets and films as well as SKY and BT English channels). We are more than content staying in of an evening and cooking and so having such a well-equipped kitchen is great. The large, completely private terrace is perfect for us as it has both sun and shade all day. In early April 2017 we were able to sunbathe from about 10am to 6.30pm. If you want to eat in the sun then there is a bistro table however if a bit of shade is more your thing then there is a large shady area which houses a 6 seater table and BBQ. There are plenty of sun loungers and the slowly changing view from the terrace over the bay is sublime. I love watching people enjoying themselves on the water, be it on a canoe, sailing or on a speed boat. The terrace has lots of potted plants which add to the feeling of the house being a home and the outside lighting allows the terrace to be used well into the evening. The comfortable master bedroom with its dual aspect windows often has had a cooling breeze flowing through it so we’ve not had to use the air conditioning that is available in the room. You can see the shared pool from the room, we’ve only seen it being used occasionally, in fact we have rarely seen anyone else in the community! If you continue on past the pool you can get down to the rocky shoreline and the private jetty. The bathroom is great: over the bath shower is powerful and the bath of a good size for a pampering soak. Plenty of hot water is always available. All communication with Jill has been very prompt and easy. Prior to arrival Jill sends clear information about how to locate the property and on arrival there is a comprehensive, up to date folder of how the house works and ideas for things to do/see. Jill even went out of her way to investigate the local dive shops for me when I asked about the possibility of scuba diving. On each visit the house has been spotless. Jill has a housekeeper, Inma, who also lives in the community and she is your first port of call if the need arrive. Inma pops round on a Thursday evening to ask what time you’re leaving but other than that she leaves you to it, which is just what we want. As I said at the start this home is perfect for us: a home from home, peace and quiet, fantastic views all in a super part of the world. A place to recharge your batteries and escape to. We can't wait for our next visit.

El Nido

We stayed at El Nido from 18th March. We spent 12 wonderful days at this lovely property. We were very lucky to arrive the weekend of San Jose festival where locals and holiday makers came together to celebrate this lovely event. Each day was started with a wonderful beach walk to the far end (1.6 miles) then back again stopping for a lovely coffee. We also walked from El Nido up to the turret that you will see to your right from the terrace. This gave you an amazing view of La Herradura. We carried on down the windy road to a beach for a lovely lunch. Then back again !! We travelled a little further by car to Grenada to visit The Alhambra. The road there was a joy with views of the Sierra Nevada. Apparently there are lovely walks from this area, called the Alpujarras. We will definitely do this next time !! Cycling is very popular and all types of bikes can be hired from surrounding areas. We still talk of the wonderful views from El Nidos terrace and we were very privileged to see the dolphins come into the bay one day. We will return one day to this lovely villa and thank you Jill for allowing us to use your lovely home to make the perfect holiday.

A Wonderful Villa in a stunning Location

We stayed at el Nido from 22nd October for two weeks, we loved this place and would highly recommend to others who are considering a peaceful, relaxing break in such a beautiful location. The villa has an excellent aspect with stunning views over the bay, we loved our time spent relaxing on the terrace with a BBQ and glass of wine. The accommodation is very comfortable and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We were sorry to leave but are very sure that we would like to return at some time in the future.

Great location and fantastic sea views

El Nido is a lovely, well maintained property in an an excellent location with fantastic sea views. The rooms are very bright and comfortably furnished and the kitchen well equipped. The main bedroom has two large windows, both of which look out to the sea and the headlands, a great view to wake up to. The terrace shares those lovely views and is well furnished with comfortable dining chairs and sun loungers for that essential siesta. La Herradura is an attractive bay and generally unspoilt compared to other parts of this coast giving it a more authentic feel. There are a range of shops including a bakery and pleasant restaurants overlooking the beach and the sea. We particularly liked Bola Marina, a little further to walk but well worth it. Malaga makes for an interesting trip out. All in all a really great trip.

"WHAT A GEM"

MR S.D Morris 24 Queens Park Avenue Queens Park Bournemouth BH8 9LG Stayed 1st October 2016 What a Gem! The views and terrace just get better and better! This is my third visit to "el Nido" over several years, returning to the house and most particularly the terrace is always special. The 180-degree views across Herradura Bay and sea are most spectacular, this year Jill has given the terrace a makeover making the terrace even more spectacular. The extra flowers and plants have made the terrace even more beautiful, with warm evenings and decorative lighting we are very happy to relax on the terrace while drinking a glass of wine with some tapas. The house is very well furnished and equipped with everything you could want for a very pleasant stay. You can see that Jill knows what is required; staying there herself for the winter she makes sure everything is in good condition for her visitors in the summer. We still find plenty to do as it is well placed for visits to Granada and the mountains or for longer rips to the Andalucian sights such as Ronda and Seville. Often as not we go for walks along the beach to one of the chiringuitos, where we can sit and have a relaxed meal and watch the sunsets, which can be very spectacular. There are plenty of ideas in the very comprehensive information file, which covers everything from restaurants and places to visit to sports such as golf or riding. We love travelling and have stayed at many places; but find it hard to stop returning to our special hideaway in the sun "el Nido" so many happy memories for us.
