Great view and well situated. Confortable suite and great swimming pool and trrrace but the drawbacks are the noisy area with an early wake up due to a pack of dogs and a chain saw every morning. The amount of electricity is too expensive and the reply of the owner is that we have to pay for previous renters who abused instead of invoicing us at the right consumption. The garden is also not maintained. The owner is finding a solution when there is a problem and quickly reply. Nice holidays but could be better.

Owner comment

We are very pleased to read that you found the villa comfortable, and enjoyed the location, the swimming pool and the great view from the terrace. We agree with your comments about dog and chainsaw noise as we too have experienced this but, this only happens occassionally and definitely does not happen every morning. It is an ‘agricultural’ area (which is why you enjoyed such wonderful views across the orange groves) and, in order to maintain this beautiful environment, we must accept that occassional work will take place. The electricity charge of €7 per day has been calculated based on previous average consumption based on ‘non-abusive’ use over the past three years. This amount has been put in place for the purposes of transparency for clients BEFORE booking, as well as ease of calculating costs. The 'non-maintained garden’ you are referring to has been purposely left to be natural to blend with the beauty of the mountain and the surrounding trees and bushes. We make sure that any areas used by clients are clear and maintained perfectly and I am sure you will agree that this is so. I am pleased that you have acknowledged that any issues that arose (even though that all were out of our control) were quickly addressed by us. We continuously strive to provide the highest quality for our clients and, given that you have awarded us unusually low marks (which appear to contradict your written review), we would be very grateful if you could provide more details so that these areas can be addressed if found to be necessary.

The house itself was great, good layout, clean and tidy, and with sensible and comfortable furniture both inside and out. The covered porch was our favorite place and we spent a ton of time in the shade when we were not in the super pool. House and owner lived up to the expectations, Mark was great in communicating and solving any small issues along the way. The drawback of the house is only one thing, and that is the lack of air-condition. While we were there (20-30th of June), temps rose up to 40 Celsius and it was quite hard to sleep at night, and also relax when it was that warm. Having AC would be such a relief. The area is a bit "boring". Pego is a small and cramped town, it might be good, but we ended up not spending much time there due to difficulties in parking, narrow and confusing layout etc. We did shop in the new supermarket in outskirts of Pego almost every day, recommend it strongly. But the Pego area is lacking quite a bit in things to do, you need to travel some distance to find things, and it shows a bit of tear and wear due to harder times the last few years. But if you do have a car - which you must in this location - it is not the biggest issue. The only real downside we found with the stay was a rooster-pen at the neighboring lot. They had two roosters and those 2 started at 4.30 every single morning, making a ton of noise and making it impossible to sleep through it. Combined with no AC in the house meant we had to sleep with the windows open, and that woke us up. We're not particularly light sleepers but with heat and noise, we got a lot less rest than we would like.

Owner comment

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the villa and all it had to offer. I was staying at the villa just before your stay and agree that the temperatures were unusually very high (due to a heatwave that most of Europe was experiencing). I can confirm that when the temperatures are normal in the summer months, the ceiling fans are more than adequate for cooling the villa. The comments about Pego are obviously subjective. Pego is a typically Spanish village offering amenities ranging from a 12th Century church to modern designer boutiques. I totally agree with your comments about the ‘rooster pen’ in a neighbouring villa and apologise for the disturbance experienced. As mentioned earlier, I was staying at the villa just before you and, can confirm that the roosters (cockerels) were causing a disturbance then. My neighbours and I asked the owner of the cockerels to remove them and we were told that it would be done within a couple of days. Unfortunately there was a delay in this but now I can confirm that the cockerels have been removed. Peaceful mornings have returned.
