The mill is completely isolated and perfect for a relaxing holiday away from it all. We enjoyed walks around the river, jumping in, swimming and climbing the rocks in the very cold water and watching the lizards and dragonflies that live alongside you in the garden. Like other reviewers, we didn't venture far from the house, until all supplies were diminished and we had to visit the shops, but Vila de Cruces was always welcoming to visit, with nice bars and a variety of shops where you can pick up most things you need. Enjoyed the badminton set and fighting over the hammock with the best view!

There were four of us, my wife, sister, brother-in-law and myself. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week. The peace and quiet of The Mill is terrific, just the sound of running water to be heard. I slept better than I can remember for years. Both houses are visual delights down to the smallest details (I loved the wooded door handles) and so well appointed. The only addition I would make is a new corkscrew and bottle opener! Outside there is so much space and a splendid river right there to swim in. Vila de Cruces has a terrific vegetable and fresh fish shop, a good cafe in the centre and the Don Din (?) was fun to eat in, on the outside section. The Saturday octopus meals served in Vila were memorable. We went to Santiago one day, which was well worth the visit but stayed at the mill the rest of the time. Thank you, Kate and Karen!

We really enjoyed our holiday at The Mill. It is situated in a wonderful location, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The interior is finished to a very high standard and we very much enjoyed spending the evenings sitting infront of the log fire. There are several outside spaces where we took the opportunity to relax, my personal favourite being the hammock area which enabled me to enjoy the river. A fabulous escape from the stresses of modern life.

El Molino de la Balsiña has been tastefully renovated to create a beautiful and welcoming home from home. It is very well equipped with comfortable beds, excellent bathroom facilities and an extremely well-stocked kitchen. All the rooms have been meticulously decorated with flair and an appreciation of local culture and style. We particularly enjoyed the glass-enclosed log fire in the main house, the pergola with its trailing vines and the sturdy riverside hammocks: ideal for an early-evening perusal of the one of the house's many books over a glass of local vermouth on the rocks. The house is very secluded and private with extensive grounds, making it ideal for a relaxing getaway. There are lots of local walks, and the river has a couple of deep pools that are perfect for swimming. The small town of Vila de Cruces is a short drive away, and you can find everything you need there in terms of shops - as well as a couple of interesting bars and restaurants. If you want to travel further afield, Galicia is a fascinating area to explore. With its own distinct language and culture, this unspoilt region on the Atlantic coast provides an alternative and authentic view of Spain, and offers everything from spectacular coastal scenery and beaches to beautiful historic towns. We particularly enjoyed sampling the local cuisine - which is rich in delicious, fresh seafood complemented by local wines - while mixing cultural visits with coastal walks. El Molino de la Balsiña is an exceptional property in a beautiful setting, and I highly recommend it.
