We actually enjoyed our stay. Sadly, however, the apartment wasn't thoroughly cleaned (bedroom, bathroom). The views from the terrace were amazing and we really liked that there was a tourist bus which took us to the city centre in roughly 10 minutes.

Rental manager comment

Dear Fabian, I'm so sorry that the apartment wasn't thoroughly cleaned for you, If we'd known during your stay we would have sent a cleaner to redo the apartment for you. You have our sincere apologies.

We arrived fairly late and had to collect our keys from a local hotel which was easy to find and pretty painless. We then found the property quite easily and were able to let ourselves in. The property is quite high up on the hill in a very clean and quiet residential neighbourhood called San Juan De Capistrano - it's lovely. There is ample parking and there are 2 flights of steps leading up to the property. The apartment itself is very spacious for 2 people with a great size balcony. The Kitchen is also a great size and fairly well equipped - we were able to prepare a few meals here with no problem. There is a full size fridge freezer and there was a cool box we could use - this is great for loading up with cold drinks and taking down to the swimming pool to save some money. There is of course the fantastic hot tub on the balcony - we had some issues with the filter being blocked which mean't it could not filter the water or heat up which was slightly annoying. We were able to resolve this by ourselves by removing the filter and informing the management. Later during our stay the filter issue was resolved. The bathroom has a good sized, powerful shower and there is a washing machine which we used a few times - it works fine. There is good internet/WiFi and a TV with several channels in multiple languages. In English there was a surprisingly good selection, basically the same as UK Freeview plus a few Sky movie channels. The apartment is a little bit tired in places (e.g the sofa is on it's last legs and the appliances are very old) but overall everything was functional and we were happy with the accommodation. The pool is located in a communal area about a 2 minute walk away - it has a bar and restaurant area which is reasonably priced. Be warned however that the use of the sunbeds and umbrellas by the pool is not free. Sunbeds were 3 euro and umbrellas were 2 euro regardless of how long you want to use them. For us this mean't we were basically paying 8 euros every day we wanted to sit by the pool - the flip side to this is that you are virtually guaranteed to be able get a sunbed at any time which made a nice change. You can also reserve a sunbed for 50c the day before. Of course there is nothing to stop you sitting on the grass or taking some folding chairs down if you have them but let's face it, we want to sit on a sunlounger really. The pool is open until 9pm which is nice. Within walking distance you have: - The swimming pool (with bar & restaurant) - Rockys Bar & Restaurant - A small supermarket - A Spanish restaurant - The bus stop Needless to say a hire car is highly recommended although I did see some people walking down to the town occasionally so it's not impossible. The bus stop is just at the end of the street and is very cheap (1 euro per person flat fee) but unfortunately it is pretty much always late - anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes late. Annoyingly it can be on time occasionally so your only option really is to head down on time and just wait! It takes about 10-15 minutes to get into town. The last bus back from town is around midnight (subject to the usual flaky timetable). There are plenty of taxis in town to get you back - the fare is around 7 euro plus tip. We stayed for 2 weeks and we had a hire car so we were able to go on plenty of day trips to nearby places and attractions but without the car I think we would have been a bit bored. Some things we did that I thoroughly recommend: - The Nerja Caves (http://www.thenerjacaves.com) - Tapas Tour in Nerja (https://nerjatapastours.com) - Boat rental in Puerto Deportivo Marina Del Este (https://www.alborancharters.com)
