Santa Lucia

Santa Lucia is a tiny village located in the Province of Cadiz, very near to the town of Vejer de la Frontera (4kms away). The village remains completely untouched by foreign tourism and is most definitely off the beaten track. Indeed, it was only in the last few years that tourists began to venture into this hidden paradise. A visit is highly recommended.

What to do?

Wandering around the old, Moorish streets is a pleasure with irrigation channels weaving their way through the village, the sound of running water and birds is omnipresent.

One of the most symbolic walks is called the "Ruta de Molinos de Agua," the route of the water mills.

It takes you along a spectacular route past seven ruined water mills that date from the 16th Century. As you follow the ancient water channels, you come to various river pools and waterfalls where you can jump in to cool off during the summer months. The higher sections of the walk offer panoramic views out to the sea.
