El Médano (the dune), is synonymous with Tenerife's longest beaches and the popular strong wind of windsurfers and kiters.
This region can be described as absolutely sun safe, the sun shines at least 3 - 5 hours per day.
Trade winds blow all year round, so the climate is dry and it rains very rarely.
EL Médano, also called Surfcity, is the windiest place in Tenerife.
The wind usually blows stronger than 4 BfT.
Windy days usually reach 5 - 7 BfT and peaks of 9 - 11 Bft.
The wind comes side-shore here and the wave reaches 1.50m to 2.50m.
The spot is suitable for fun surfing, jumping and kiting.

You just cross the street and go down some steps and you are already at the beautiful beach of El Médano.
