La Amapola is a beautifully restored Andalucian country villa, with a huge kitchen diner and 3 luxurious bedrooms. The house is styled with a Mediterranean feel – big mirrors, polished original tiled floors, wide beds and fresh flowers. An old family library, hand-picked artworks and ceramics all add to the charm. The large swimming pool is stunningly situated and totally private, with breathtaking views of Lake Vinuela and the Mediterranean. Guests can explore the 3 acres of grounds, with huge old olive and oak trees and extensive gardens and terraces. There are grapevines with grapes hanging overhead, peaches and apricots on the trees in season, a herb garden, and an outdoor barbecue area with Moroccan mosaic table and seating for 8 for dining alfresco.

Jasmine, hibiscus and bougainvillea, wildflowers, butterflies and birdlife, no traffic, yet close to local shops and bars, 30 mins from beaches and an hour from Malaga/Granada – your own private paradise!

SLEEPS 6-8 (3 double Bedrooms) plus baby/child.

OUTSIDE: 3 acres of private land, mainly olive and almond groves; Extensive landscaped gardens with mature trees and flowering climbers; Large terracotta tiled terrace front of house; Enclosed courtyard terrace at back of house with lockable gates; Outdoor barbacue and kitchen area with sink; Patio chairs and tables.

EXTRAS: Broadband Internet and Free WiFi; Local olive oil from our own olives, and specially bottled “La Amapola” Rioja wine available upon request.

ACCOMMODATION
Character farmhouse with every modern comfort and convenience.
 Huge (55m2) open plan kitchen dining room with range style oven, chrome fridge-freezer and, for the keen cook, masses of cookbooks and specialist cookware.
 Cosy living room with 2 large sofas and an extensive library of films, books and music to cater for all tastes and ages.
 3 double bedrooms, Master Bedroom with romantic 4 poster bed, 2nd bedroom with king size bed and 3rd bedroom with 2 double beds, one on a mezzanine platform, very popular with teenagers and young adults!
 2 fully equipped bathrooms with bath/shower, WC, sink and bidet.

POOL
The pool is located a short stroll through the olive grove, up a flight of steps cut out of the hillside. From here the views are truly breathtaking, sweeping down to the lake and sea, with the mountains a dramatic backdrop. This is a really large pool, big enough for proper swimming and deep enough for diving at the deep end. The pool terraces are lit up by solar fairy lights at night, should you fancy a moonlight dip!
The pool and pool terraces are for the sole use of clients and are completely private and undisturbed.

CHILDREN
We welcome small children! We provide a cot and high chair, as well as a large selection of books, films, games and diversions for children of all ages. Small children can play safely within the walled courtyard which leads out from the main house, and the terrace has lockable gates to stop children from wandering off to the swimming pool unaccompanied.

The white hilltop villages of the Axarquia, Granada's arabic quarter and the Alhambra Palace are just some of the nearby attractions. Other recommended day trips include Malaga's Picasso museum and the wonderful tapas bars in the centro historico, the fabulous Moorish architecture of Cordoba, the hot springs at Alhama de Granada, the lake at Beremejales and the gorgeous scenery at El Chorro Gorge. Seville, Ronda, Cordoba and Nerja are all also accessible for a pleasant day trip or a relaxing night away.

LOCATION
La Amapola is located 25kms inland between Malaga and Granada. There is an excellent local restaurant about 3kms away, and a pretty hilltop bar in a beautiful location 4kms away, as well as some fabulous seafood restaurants on the coast half an hour away. A selection of delicious tapas and raciones are available at the local bars - ask for our recommendations.

 Periana Village – 5 kms.
 Nearest Beach – Torre del Mar 22kms.
 Malaga – 55kms.
 Granada – 65 kms.

TRAVEL
Both Malaga and Granada airports are easily accessible and served by all major airlines plus budget airlines including Easyjet, Ryanair, Monarch and BMIbaby. Iberia and British Airways also offer regular and frequent daily flights. Car hire is essential and there are numerous car hire companies, including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Hellehollis and malagacarhire. We recommend shopping around for the best deal as prices often vary quite dramatically.

The owner / caretakers visit La Amapola twice a week to water the plants and clean the pool, and are on hand to offer help or advice if required. If you need to contact the caretaker’s during your stay you can call or email using the CONTACT details for La Amapola, or visit the caretaker’s cottage (via a separate driveway from the public track).

Notes
Our Booking Procedure is as follows:-
•We will reply to your enquiry and ask you to complete a Booking Form and return it to us by email attachment.
•We will then ask for a 25% deposit to secure your booking.

Our prices are per week in Euros and include gas, water and electricity.
Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday, but please ask if this is not convenient – we will try to be flexible.
