The lighthouse marks the approximate centre of the beach, which is split into the northern half known as El Saladar and the southern half of Playa del Matorral. The bright sandy beach area stretches for approximately three kilometres. The water is clear and very clean. In both areas there are windsurfing and sailing schools offering courses and equipment for hire. Near the lighthouse is a well-known surfing location, making for a very special surfing experience.
