The garden itself is of a "controlled wilderness" type; juniper bushes (a protected species) break the rhythm of the large lawn, and several palm trees will whisper to us from on high with their slender trunks swaying gracefully in the wind. Situated less than 200 metres from one of the best beaches on the Costa de la Luz, Casa Almadraba offers that combination of beach, comfortable home and mature garden that is so hard to find on the Cádiz coast. The 19th century writer Ramón María del Valle-Inclán's "Summer Sonata" transports the reader to the Caribbean coast of Mexico, where he experiences the passionate and stormy relationship between the Marquis of Bradomín and the Niña Chole, daughter and lover of local bandits. She is, in the words of the writer, an "exotic beauty bronzed with that strange, undulating grace of nomadic races" and gives her name to this unique house, whose creation was a labour of love on the part of its owner. El Alarife is not only a bold modern design, and therefore very different from our other houses, but it is also the work of one of the best known and most awarded Spanish architects of the last decades. It is therefore not surprising that its layout, natural light and amount of space are key features, as is its location. El Alarife is situated just 90m from Cala Encendida, an attractive cove on the south side of Roche beach, and on slightly higher ground than the rest of its neighbours. Although Bahari is built on two floors, on the first floor you will find only the fourth bedroom (with bunk beds) and a roof terrace from where you can see the sea at the end of the street.
