According to the World Bank, we generate 2.2kg of waste per person per day. Although the carbon footprint of a self-catering holiday is relatively low, we can all make additional small changes towards minimizing our footprint.

Holiday Footprint is an initiative organised by Spain-Holiday.com which looks to encourage good sustainable lifestyle practices in the holiday rental industry.

Launching in July 2018, the Holiday Footprint Food Bank Drive aims to encourage guests to donate their leftover food and other items to the local food bank at the end of their holiday.

Food banks do NOT accept opened or fresh food products, but they are grateful to receive donations of:

  • unopened and non-perishable food items,
  • new or used basic hygiene goods i.e. shower gels and shampoos, and
  • baby products i.e. diapers or jars of baby food.

On departure, the Owner or Rental Manager will collect the donated items left by the Guests and deliver them to the local food bank.
