The beaches of Benalmadena - Playa Malapesquera / Playa Torrebermeja

Playa Malapesquera / Torrebermeja is the largest and most popular of Benalmadena's beaches. A regular Blue Flag winner, it's not hard to understand its popularity. Let's take a look.

Malapesquera / Torrebermeja Beach Benalmádena

Playa de Torrebermeja, Benalmadena

The beach is situated just to the east of Puerto Marina about a ten minute walk from Benalmádena's centre.

Malapesquera's central location and the abundance of services and amenities ensure that occupation levels are high. It can and does get very busy during the summer months.

As with all the beaches in this area, the sand is dark and coarse. Playa Malapesquera is approximately 700m long and 50m wide.

Playa de Torrebermeja, Benalmadena

The beach is popular with all, young and old alike. Families, tourists and locals are all regulars. The wide diversity of activities, the sheltered and shallow waters, and the abundance of green areas, make the beach a popular choice for families.

Torrebermeja is actually the only beach in Benalmádena that has these large green areas, with lawns and palm trees that offer plenty of shade and respite from the hot Andalusian sun.

Services and amentities

Chiringuito Malapesquera, Playa de Torrebermeja, Benalmadena

As you'd expect all amenities are catered for. You can rent sunloungers & parasols, there are showers and toilets. During the high season, there also lifeguards on duty.

Towards the southern end of the beach you'll find a surf school where you can rent kayaks, SUP (standup paddle) boards, pedalos and other water sports equipment.

There're are also designated beach volleyball and football areas. The nearby Puerto Marina offers everything you'd want and then some. From dolphin spotting trips, to all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurants, the award winning Marina has it all.

On the beach itself, you have the somewhat hidden and aptly named "Malapesquera beach bar" a chiringuito that although specialising in fish, also offers some reasonably priced meat and vegetarian dishes. A portion of fried calamari costs 7 €, a plate of scrambled eggs with shrimp € 8.50 and a glass of refreshing gazpacho € 2.5.

If you're really hungry, you can always choose a nearby self-service restaurant Tamarindos offering a buffet menu, priced at € 9.20 for adults and € 4.50 for children.
