Holidays in El Palo
El Palo is a traditional fishing village located in the eastern part of the city of Malaga, in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. To the south, you have the stunning Mediterranean Sea with a long stretching seaside of soft sand and some beach bars to have a snack or a drink. It borders with other coastal villages, such as the lively town of Pedregalejo to the west, and some smaller neighbourhoods to the north, like Villa Cristina, Las Cuevas y La Pelusa.
A vibrant place to exploreAlthough Pedregalejo is not administratively part of El Palo, they blend so perfectly together that some people consider them to be the same. However, Pedregalejo is known for its lively atmosphere filled with beach bars, restaurants, clubs, and even Spanish academies that attract tons of foreigners every year. So, if you want to have a bit more of excitement after the sun sets, Pedregalejo offers just that without having to move to far from El Palo.
El Palo is located right on the Mediterranean coast, so beautiful beaches are guaranteed. The main beach is El Palo beach, known for its dark fine sand, tranquil waters and family-friendly atmosphere. To the west, Pedregalejo beach forms six small coves, offering a more intimate and peaceful setting. Playa del Chanquete, to the east, is usually a bit more concurred, but is just as fun and beautiful as the other ones and even has a blue flag certification, showing how clean and cared for the beach is.
El Palo for couplesIf you're looking for an experience full of romance and intimacy with your significant other, El Palo is just ideal. The tranquil and picturesque atmosphere, along with the scenic beauty of its beaches, provides the perfect setting for romance to blossom. You can start your day by having a delicious breakfast on the terrace of your rental and head straight to beach for some fun in the sun afterward. Walk hand in hand along the beach, take pictures of the landscapes, and enjoy a delicious meal at one of the locals chiringuitos –beach bars– to try the local cuisine. Explore the nearby towns, and go swimming at one of the coves for more privacy. Finally, to end the night with a flourish, watch as the sun sets over the stunning Mediterranean Sea and have a romantic dinner with a fine wine at one of the local restaurants.
Playa de El Palo beach is known for its fine dark sand and shallow waters, making it a perfect option for a family beach day or for those who just want to relax under the sun to achieve that perfect tan. If you prefer to stay in the shade, there is a nice area covered by a bunch of palm trees and with natural grass for a much cooler setting. The beach is also well-equipped and maintained, and has a great selection of beach bars and restaurants to have a snack, a drink or a full meal after a fun beach day.

The boats are followed by crowds of people who watch from the shore and cheer as they pass by. After the procession, the party continues with live music, dancing, and plenty of food and drinks.
