Casa del Nómada entered our collection in 2019. It is an elegant Atlantic beach house, just a short walk (1km) or bike ride from one of the most spectacular stretches of sandy beach on the Costa de la Luz. Situated at the rear of the urbanisation of Roche, the location is quiet, yet less than 5 minutes by bike from the local minimarket (fresh bread), bar and children's playground. And in the summer months within walking distance are several of Cadiz's famous chiringuitos (beach bars). Having said that, this is a house you will want to spend time in; it has been designed precisely for that, offering that little bit more than the typical beach house. The property underwent a major refurbishment in 2018 and the result was a well proportioned and well laid out single storey house, ideal for couples but at the same time comfortable for groups of up to 10 people. There is a good sized swimming pool (9x4) with a well sheltered terrace and a covered outdoor bar. The garden has several stone pines providing just the right amount of sun and shade and there is a large open lawn for the children to play on. Built on a single floor, with good-size rooms and terrace, as well as easy access and an excellent location (less than 200m to local shop, chemist, playground; and 400m to Roche’s stunning beach), Casa Encinar is a particularly good choice for those travelling with children or older people. Despite having been built less than 10 years ago, the house has a charm and atmosphere normally associated with older properties. The use of old wood throughout, as well as traditional whitewashed walls, terracotta floor tiles, and the typical coloured azulejos on the walls provides the feel of a traditional Andaluz country home; yet Casa Encinar is in the middle of a luxury estate (with all its facilities) and just a 5-minute walk from a stunning beach. Not only is El Alarife a bold modern design, and therefore quite different to our other houses, but it is also the work of one of Spain’s best known architects of recent decades. So, not surprisingly, distribution, light, and space are major features; but so too is its location; just 90 metres away from Cala Encendida, an attractive cove at the southern end of the main Roche beach, the house sits on slightly higher ground than its neighbours, and there are lovely sea views from the first floor rooms and terrace. It is without a doubt one of Roche’s best designed houses, and has been very appropriately named as al’arif in Andalusi Arabic meant architecht or master of works. El Alarife is particularly suitable foreither large families or even two families (it sleeps ten, with a wing for teenagers should you wish, and it is no more than a skip and a hop to the beach); but it is also a house for groups of adults looking for a bit more than just a beach house.
