Jalon tourist information

Jalon is actually the capital of the Pop’s Valley, and beside it we find the river Gorgos (which is called also Jalon in this valley).
It has a special attractive not easy to find in the other areas. With the exception of the plain where the town is, the lands around Jalon are different mountains, within which we should mention the Sierra de Bernia.
From this mountain the most incredible sites can be seen, footpathing can be done towards Penyo de la Mica, la Sierra del Forner and the Castellet (little castle).

In this town it is impossible not to go to visit the church of Santa Maria of neo-classic style and reredos or altar piece. For the people who like nature, excursions can be done to the Cave of “les Maravelles”, to Bernia, where the remaining of the castle Forat can be seen, and the panoramic views of the coast of Alicante, or the Fountain and “La Bassa dels Arcs”.

Jalon is a merry town with its handicraft shops, wine cellars, restaurants and places that give the tourist lots of possibilities. To visit this town is to know its local gastronomy, with their sweets and pastry done with almonds within we should mention the pastissets, mantecaos, carquinyols, mostachos and their famous bollos (pastry done with green peas). This town is well known because of its sausages, done with the antic receipts; you can find the morcilla, bufas, longanizas, and chorizos. The wine of Jalon is well known in all the country, the most famous ones are the red wine and the sweet Mistela or Moscatel wine. For the people who like the local fiestas, these are dedicated to several saints all year round.

The fiesta of the Romero (last Saturday of April), the Moors and Christians (last Sunday of July), the fiestas of Santo Domingo (the 4th of August) and the fiestas of the Virgin Pobre (third Monday of October). The Rastro of Jalon (popular market done on an open area) has a great number of tourist visitors; it is a large one that is been hold each Saturday beside the river. Here you will be able to find, from the most antic furniture and pieces to anything needed in a house.

Local Activities: Horse Riding ( in Benissa to 6 km), Golf ( to 12 km in C.G.), Walking, Rent a Quads in Benissa ( to 6 km near the petrol station), Donkey riding in Jalón ( to 0 km), Hiking trails in Jalon (Bernia mountain), about 45 minutes by the motorway to the Water Parks of Benidorm (Aqualandia, Mundomar, Terra Mítica), about 30 minutes of Safari Park Vergel, you can visit the coves of Benidoleig and the Valley of Ebo.
