Bolnuevo

Bolnuevo is a small residential complex in the municipality of Mazarron, on the Costa Calida in the Murcia Province of Spain. Situated in the bay of Mazarron, around 6 kilometres from the town itself, it was originally a peaceful, sheltered fishing bay, and has retained much of the peaceful and traditional charm of old.

With its quiet sheltered beach and relaxed atmosphere Bolnuevo suits families and couples seeking a peaceful, beach holiday destination.

Bolnuevo is situated 50 kilometres from Murcia San Javier airport and 40 kilometres from this historical city of Cartagena. For those who want to get out and explore the great outdoors, there are three Natural Parks close to Bolnuevo, suitable for hiking and walking excursions.

History
Historical records for the region of Mazarron date back to the Phoenicians, who used the coastal area to dock and ship minerals and other produce. During the 16th century a sanctuary was built in Bolnuevo in memory of the locals who came under the constant attacks from pirates. There was also a defensive fortress, which was known as the Tower of Horses, or Bolnuevo Castle.

About town
Bolnuevo has a traditional appeal about it. But that doesn’t mean that you will be short of amenities or facilities. The little town area has everything you need to enjoy your holiday, including supermarkets, shops, restaurants, bars and cafes.

Beaches

Bolnuevo is situated on a long, golden sandy beach. Aside from the main beach, the coastline of the Costa Calida, and especially around Bolnuevo and Mazarron boasts 35 kilometres of sandy beaches, small bays and hidden coves, which you can explore.

Eating out
All the town is small there are several restaurants and small bars, including a seafood, tapas and traditional choices, and also a Chinese and Wok restaurant, and a restaurant serving traditional British dishes.

Climate

Bolnuevo and the Costa Calida enjoy a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in summer and protection from the surrounding mountains against the cold North winds in winter.
The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees.

In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination

City review

generally in need of new footpaths but other than that had everything we needed to shop and eat out.found the local prices to be very reasonable

Coast review

nice and clean on the beach and enjoyed watching the locals fishing off the beach in the evening, would be great if they respected the pedestrian crossings as these were quite dangerous when crossing the road.Enjoyed the restaurants in puerto Mazaron and the markets.
