Caleta de Fuste

Caleta de Fuste is a purpose-built holiday resort situated on the east coast of the island, approximately ten minutes from the airport. The town has been developed around a cove, Caleta being the name for Cove in Spanish, and Fuste is a type of fishing boat.

Around town
The busy town is growing fast to accommodate the growth of tourism in the area. There is one main street where you will find the town’s popular bars and restaurants.

Within the town you will find all the amenities and services needed for your holiday; aside from dining options, there are supermarkets, banks,
chemists, a multi screen cinema, shopping centre, boutiques and much more.

Wander off from the main street and you can enjoy a lovely stroll around some of the quieter tree-lined streets of the town.

There is also a marina where you can book excursions to explore other parts of the island and the resort has an excellent choice of bars, restaurants and shops.

Beaches
The superb sandy beach which slopes gently to the sea is one of the safest on the island for children. The pale golden sand was imported in for the purpose of developing the resort, and over time, unlike many man made beaches, has fused with the natural surroundings.

There are other beaches outside of town, close to some of the hotel resorts, which are also man-made, created from lagoons by taking away rock and replacing it with sand.

Golf
Caleta de Fuste is home to its own golf course, with clubhouse and restaurant.

What to do
If you are looking for a beach holiday, combined with lots of family orientated activities, then Caleta de Fuste is the perfect destination. On land
and water, there are various options including deep sea diving, boat trips, there is even a submarine for undersea excursions. Land lovers can enjoy a round of golf, island explorations, 10 pin bowling, and much more.

Eating out
There is a wide selection of cuisines available in Caleta de Fuste, typical Spanish restaurants, Chinese, Italian, British, and more.

The nightlife is also upbeat with lots of bars providing entertainment, live music and karaoke options.

Climate
The climate of Fuerteventura, as with the rest of the Canary Islands, is generally pleasant all year round. The island can be prone to high winds; its name translated literally means Strong Fortune, or Strong Wind. During the summer months temperatures can reach up to 35 degrees, and in the winter rarely drop below 18 degrees.
