La Azohia

La Azohia is a charming fishing village located on the Costa Calida, in Murcia, Spain. Situated in a beautiful coastal region at the eastern end of the Gulf of Mazarron. The area is characterised by long stretches of golden sand, crystal clear seas and a wonderful natural setting.

La Azohia suits holidaymakers looking for a relaxed beach holiday destination away from the mass tourist resorts.

About town
La Azohia offers a few amenities, with small local shops and a handful of bars and restaurants. Puerto de Mazarron is just 5 kilometres away and here you can enjoy a better choice of facilities and services.

The village itself has a traditional and peaceful atmosphere. There are ample bars, restaurants and snack bars that reside in the village and along the attractive beachfront.

La Azohia itself offers a few amenities, with small local shops, a supermarket, pharmacy and a wine bodega. Puerto de Mazarron is just 5 kilometres away and here you can enjoy a better choice of facilities and services, and a Saturday morning market. The city of Cartagena is around 30 minutes drive away and here you can find huge hypermarkets and a host of other amenities and services.

Beaches
The beaches around La Azohia are particularly stunning, with a bay of wide expanses of golden sands, backed by the mountain ranges of the Sierras Moreras, Almenara, Algorobo, Lo Alto and Muela.

La Azohia and the local region boast some of the best beaches in Spain; safe for children, uncrowded and set in a truly beautiful, natural setting.

Climate
La Azohia and the Costa Calida enjoy a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in summer and protection from the surrounding mountains against the cold North winds in winter.
The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees.

In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination
