Acequias is a small white washed village which sits high on the banks of the Rio Torrente, a deep gorge carved out by the river flowing down from the Sierra Nevada mountains National Park, which is also paints backdrops to this pretty village.

Acequias is ideally situated for exploring Las Alpajurras, a beautiful region of outstanding natural beauty. Located in the province of Granada, Acequias is two hours from Malaga airport in the autonomous community of Andalusia.

About town
The village does not have any shops or bars, but local delivery vans call on a daily basis. The surrounding villages have the usual array of bars, banks and supermarkets.

Natural surroundings
The once wild river that flows close to the town of Acequias is now tamed and used for Hydro Electricity generation, and for feeding the irrigation channels that water the fields and orchards of this lush valley.

The Sierra Nevada National Park runs along the edge of the village and there are numerous footpaths leading out of the village including the GR & long distance footpath.

Places to visit
Acequias is located within easy reach of many historic towns and villages. The area is an ideal spot for those who enjoy walking and sight seeing.

The Costa Tropical takes its name from the sub-tropical climate that it enjoys. With warm winters and long hot summers, the average temperature is around 20C.
