Son Bou

The resort of Son Bou in the municipality of Alaior, on the south coast of Menorca, it is renowned for having the biggest and probably best beach on the island. The resort is located around 20 kilometres from the international airport at Mahon.

About town
Son Bou is a relatively new modern resort, with a brand new villas and apartments dominating the area.

The resort has good amenities, including supermarkets, tourist shops, restaurants, bars and even a disco. However, for more bigger shopping centres you should head to the nearby town of Ciutadella, or into the capital Mahon.

Beach
Far removed from Menorca’s typical ‘calas’ (coves), the beach at Son Bou stretches out for 2.5 kilometres; dunes and freshwater beds fringe the back of the beach. Towards the Santo Tomas
end, there is a nudist beach.

There are options for pedalos, canoes, waterskiing and jet skiing.

Eating out & nightlife

There are a range of bars and restaurants in Son Bou; in fact the resort features one of the islands few discos. The majority of nightlife is relatively low key, being based around the restaurants, bars and hotels that offer scheduled entertainment.

Climate

Menorca enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, with often very warm temperatures even in the winter. The summer months are long and lazy, with plenty of sunshine to enjoy.
